  • QuestionDoes the HBS-1125 support AptX and AptX HD? The previous model (HBS-1100) did, and it's hard to imagine a feature like this being removed from a top-end product. All the speaker technology won't help if you're using FM radio-quality signal to begin with

    • Answer None of the new LG Tone Platinum models have Aptx or Aptx-HD. The original Tone Platinum HBS-1100 supported APTX-HD and it was this feature that allowed the Bluetooth connection to be indistinguishable from CD quality wired headphones. Apparently LG seems to think that adding a dynamic driver to the new models is somehow going to replicate the quality of what they removed but all that it's going to do is give you a fuller sounding distorted connection. They could put six drivers in each earphone and it wouldn't help. Oddly enough, they managed to double the price. You may be asking yourself how could this possibly be an upgraded version of the original Tone Platinums and the honest answer is that it isn't. In order to put APTX-HD compatibility into a device the manufacturer has to pay a royalty fee and this year LG must have decided to raise the price and put all the profit in the shareholders' pockets. This year's models aren't even in the same league as the originals and we will see if Best Buy is truly the going to be the customers' trusted advisor or LG's partner in profit in their decision on whether to publish my truthful opinion (the results of which will appear in another publication prior to Christmas). This year's models should more appropriately be called the Tone Tins.

    • Answer No, the HBS-1125 does not have an external speaker. If you are looking for this feature, check out the HBS-835S. ^CP

  • QuestionAre these headphones sweat and water resistant

    • Answer I have not tested my current LG headphones for resistance to sweat and water, but prior versions were not resistant and died - one after a hard workout, and a subsequent set died after I was outside doing lawn work and sweating. I am a fan of these headphones, but I do not subject them to these kinds of situations any more.

    • Answer Yes they vibrate when you receive a call. You might want to take that feature off though, due to the cheap plastic LG uses you headset might crack. If it does crack, just prepair your self to spend another $200 on a new set because LG cant stand behind thier products.

    • Answer The original LG Tone Platinum model from 2016 has the aptX feature. The most recent iteration of the Tone Platinum from late 2018 oddly enough is not equipped with aptX capability.

  • QuestionI just received my hbs 1125 earbuds. When I connect to my phone, it shows up as hbs 930. The manual in the box says hbs-1010/930 (platinum-alpha, not platinum+). Are these the same product (930 and 1125), or did I receive the wrong thing?

    • Answer How easily the LG TONE PLATINUM+ Bluetooth® Wireless Stereo Headset, Model # HBS-1125 will connect to your computer depends on your computer's Bluetooth pairing procedure. It should not be that complicated and you just need to follow the voice prompts to guide you through the pairing procedure. The LG TONE PLATINUM+ (HBS-1125) is a lightweight wireless headset that can be used as an audio accessory for devices supporting either the A2DP or Hands-Free Bluetooth Profile. If you are prompted for an authorization code (PIN code), type 0000. Make sure the headset's battery is fully charged before proceeding with pairing. Make sure that the Bluetooth on your computer is set to on and that it is discoverable to other devices. Select [LG HBS1125 ] from a list of available devices on your computer to connect to the headset. A voice message will indicate that the connection is completed...^IFV

    • Answer Hi Marty, I used mine with a Verizon Droid Smartphone and had no problems with phone calls. The problem I've had with the LG Tone series is that they will all FAIL after about 12 to 14 months, so I hope you got the extended 2 year warranty with yours. I've owned 3 pairs of these in the last 3+ years (With the LG tone platinum being the latest). After my LG tone platinums went out on me I decided to go with the BOSE Soundsports (which I love so far, we'll see if they last). I wrote reviews for both the LG tone platinum and the Bose soundsports. Hope this was helpful!
