Q: QuestionDoes GE make an over the range microwave which is only 24" wide?

Q: QuestionWill this model replace JVM1533BD002 microwave. I've repaired the later a couple times. Just died on me again yesterday. It's probably almost 15 years old.

• A:Answer Hello Jesse - We're sorry to hear about the final use of your microwave. At least it had a nice run. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. This means this would be an excellent choice for your kitchen. - John@GEA

Q: QuestionHi, I want to replace my 2012 JVM1740DP2WW with JVM3160DFWW. It looks like it has the 4 bracket slots about where mine are. Will i still need to replace the wall mount? i do see it has 3 top bolts, and mine has 2, but how about the wall mount? thanks

When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. • A:Answer Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that your microwave will not light up. We can understand how that would be frustrating. Here are instructions to change the bulb. 1)Below the microwave is the light cover with 1 Phillips head screw. Remove the screw, but be careful not to lose it. This is usually not a part we stock. 2)Take your thumb and push up towards the floor of the microwave and the trap door should swing open on a hinge. 3)Remove the bulb by pushing it in and turning 1/4 turn. 4)Replace with a bulb of the same wattage. Check the bulb or your Owner's Manual for bulb size and wattage. 5)When installing a new bulb, do not touch it with your bare hands, especially if it is a halogen bulb. Oil from your skin will cause early failure of the bulb. Always wear clean gloves or use a clean cloth when installing these bulbs. If the microwave has a silicone seal or the interior light is out, please read this troubleshooting article "REPLACING THE COOKTOP LIGHT IN AN OVER THE RANGE MICROWAVE". • A:Answer This is what I did and I suggest that you do the same. I called GE customer service and gave them the model number of my existing microwave and asked them what microwave I can replace it. It should be the same measurements. The installation may not be same just like mine because you have to remove the old brackets . Believe me I did it all by myself.

• A:Answer no, the venting is top, back or front, i have it to the front, which is on top and in front of the microwave you can switch the fan direction to blow out the top front

• A:Answer I'd have to say there's a good chance of that, especially if it's the same model year as the one you have. But if not, the mounting bracket isn't a deal breaker because they are very easy to swap out.

Q: Questioni have a GE JVM140J001 SPACEMAKER MANUFACTURED IN 1990. LOOKS LIKE YOUR NEW MODEL JNM3163DJWW IS 1" higher and 2' deeper. I have not found a better fit. Will this slightly larger one go in w/o modification and do you think it will look overly awkward?

• A:Answer Adjustment will be needed with the height but it was only about 1/2 inch higher and wider!! The depth is about 2 inches deeper but is really not noticeable. It is a great microwave and looks great - cleaner lines!!

• A:Answer Hi Ted, thanks for reaching out! This product requires a three-prong grounded outlet. Product rating is 120 volts AC, 60 Hertz, 15 amps, and 1.70 kilowatts. This product must be connected to a supply circuit of the proper voltage and frequency. Wire size must conform to the requirements of the National Electrical Code or the prevailing local code for this kilowatt rating. The power supply cord and plug should be brought to a separate 15 to 20 ampere branch circuit single grounded outlet. The outlet box should be located in the cabinet above the microwave oven and away from any potential microwave ducting. The outlet box and supply circuit should be installed by a qualified electrician and conform to the National Electrical Code or the prevailing local code. We hope that this helps!
