Q: QuestionIs it possible to combine the Powerline AC1000 (specifically for the WiFi piece) and the Powerline 2000 (two ethernet) as one network (one piece connected to the router and then a Powerline AC1000 in one room and a Powerline 2000 in a different area)?

• A:Answer Check what standards your devices support. Any powerline networking device compatible with IEEE 1901 should work together. The IEEE 1901 includes HomePlug AV as a baseline technology, so any IEEE 1901 products are fully interoperable with HomePlug AV, HomePlug GreenPHY, and HomePlug AV2.

• A:Answer It does come with two very short Ethernet cables. Good for setup and good if you are very near where you're deploying them . I would recommend having a few extra cables of varying length around for setup and in the event that you move devices later.

• A:Answer The question's a little vague. You need internet service (AT&T, Spectrum, etc.) coming into your home with a modem, first. This can't be used in lieu of a modem to provide service. Once that's done, this gets hooked up like so: Modem ---cable--->adapter (plugged into wall.) -----electrical lines in home ----> Other adapter ----cable---- PC. (or switch, or TV. It has two plugs on the bottom.) So yes, you do need a cable - these are not wifi extenders.

• A:Answer as far as i can tell, YES you can. - - - I have mixed powerline 500's with powerline 2000's - - - the only way to really know, is buy a box and see if it works. - if not just return it.

• A:Answer It is recommended, if not a requirement that Powerline equipment be connected directly to power line. This was the case with my previous D-Link equipment which lasted for 5 years and survived power outages, brownouts, and lightening storms. My residence only has 2-wires with no true ground. Both my NETGEAR/D-Link powerline equipment was/is connected to my DSL-2640B Gateway ADSL2/2+ Modem-Router Wireless-G Router and Motorola SB6190 Surfboard Cable Modem, neither of which show signs of any electrical or signal stress. I hope that helps.

• A:Answer It is far more important that your wiring have continuity than what your wall material is made from. I did read an article were a unit was tested on a mix of wiring, aluminum and copper and the speeds were hardly impaired.

• A:Answer There are some settings that deal with that. Just make sure your not using them in a circuit that has major appliances on it. Microwave is a big one.
