A:Answer In my experience, gigabit connection, no, 100mb, definitely. Maybe in a perfect environment where the two outlets are the only branch circuit in the house/building, it would be faster, but multiple circuits in a residence, also the age of the wiring, as well as the amount of devices plugged in, or just wired, can have a detrimental effect on the network speed. This is because the powerline network must pass through the distribution panel to get to the final destinatiokn and interference from other circuits causes a lot of signal loss. I am in no way saying that it is slow, just that the gigabit speeds that theoretically can be achieved will not happen. Remember also, to get anywhere close to gigabit speed in a perfect network, you need at least cat5e or cat6 cabling and connections for the network. Powerline networking will offer the ability to put wifi or Ethernet connection in rooms without a jack or coverage, but realistically, around 100mb or so would be more realistic.
