Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the ability for non-Night Owl products to work on our systems as we don't manufacture or control the coding of other devices. You are welcome to try the system compatibility out and leverage Best Buy's return policy if you wish, but we recommend using all Night Owl products so we can fully support you with our 1 year warranty on top of technical support.     • Answer To connect this DVR to your network, simply run an Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the back of the DVR to an open port on your home router or modem. Once connected, the DVR will automatically establish a network connection. You can then complete setup and remote viewing through the Night Owl Protect App by following the on-screen steps.   • QuestionCan you tell me specifically which App this DVR uses? We currently have a Night Owl system, however it is no longer able to be viewed on our phones because our phones apparently are too new to support the required app (Night Owl HD).

If your older system used the Night Owl HD app, the Protect app will be the updated version you’ll want to download. Even if the connectors appear similar (such as BNC), features like motion detection, audio, and resolution support may not function properly—or at all—when mixing brands.   • QuestionWill this replace Series WNIP2 with wireless cameras?

    • Answer Thank you for the question and happy to try and help but am not sure what you are asking. This is a wired DVR recorder for wired BNC FTD series cameras. It is compatible with A/C powered Wi-Fi and Wire-Free cameras but not the WNIP2 as they are NVR recorder based. Please reach back out if there are other questions we can help with.
