      In digital cameras, the camera's format refers to the size of its image sensor. Nikon makes a DX-format sensor and an FX-format sensor. The DX-format is the smaller sensor at 24x16mm; the larger FX-format sensor measures 36x24mm which is approximately the same size as 35mm film.

      Yes it is. I would manually focus my lens to get a sharp image and blurred background at a low aperture.

        The 40mm MICRO-NIKKOR Lens is an excellent portrait lens. It's aperture of 2.8 is excellent for making your subject standout from it's background!

        All Nikon DSLR's use Nikon's F-mount. Any lens would fit on it - there is the matter of functionality of a specific lens and camera. In this case the D7200 and the AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm is 100% compatible.
