- Answer This lens works great with the d3500, and works great in Auto Focus mode (AFS and AFC). The d3500 is not at its best shooting video with any lens but will thrive using this lens if it's being used for photography. If you are looking to shoot video, you will be disappointed will all Nikon cameras. Only the new Z series from Nikon have made shooting video exciting again, like the z6 and z7. Nikon hit the ball out of the park with the new Mirrorless Cameras...

- Answer The 50mm f/1.8G is an FX lens. When this is put on a DX camera, it will have a 1.5x crop factor. Your actual angle of view will be 75mm. It is 100% compatible with the D5500.

- Answer If you are looking for a wide angle lens, I would search that specifically, as this lens is not necessarily intended for wide angle photos, more so portraits and objects up close.

- Answer D lenses have an aperture ring on it. G lenses do not so you can adjust the aperture with the dial on the camera instead of on the lens as with the D types.

- Answer Yes, and yes. It is compatible with DX format & F-type lens mount cameras which the 7100 is. It offers both auto and manual focus which is actually controlled by a switch on the side of the lens. So be careful not to turn it to manual! Also, make sure you understand that this lens has no zoom capability. It is a prime lens and not a telephoto.

- Answer N90s is an FX camera which uses all AF, AF-D, AF-I and AF-S lenses. Don't use DX lenses; they'll make images with black corners. This is according to an article by Ken Rockwell.

- Answer The answer is subjective. There will be more bokeh (blurry background) with the 1.4 vs 1.8 when shooting from the same distances. Watch a YouTube video comparison to see the difference in pictures and see which one you prefer. The 1.4 will bring your subject more into focus with the increased bokeh but it may be too much for your liking.

- Answer I cannot answer about the adapter but I do know that if you are using a crop sensor camera, this lens will be about the equivalent of an 85 mm lens on your camera. I have this lens and love it. It’s very light weight compared to the zoom lenses

- Answer Yes, the Nikon Nikki 50mm f/1.8 AP-S lens is compatible with F Mount cameras using both FX and DX format. It is not compatible with any Nikon camera using the Z Mount.

QuestionWill the autofocus work on a Nikon D5000?

- Answer Yes, this is a "G" type lens. It will auto focus with any recent Nikon digital camera, like your D5000. I used it on my D5600. But be advised, this will perform like a short telephoto on DX cameras like your D5000. It will be good for portraits--not good for trying to take a picture of a group of people inside a room. It's not wide enough. It will have a smaller field of view than a 50mm lens on a full-frame camera. But it's still a good choice for D5000. Nikon doesn't offer a DX prime lens this fast as a DX lens.
