Q: QuestionIs this lens compatible with a Nikon D3400, D700 or D7000?

• A:Answer Yes, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G will be compatible with the Nikon D3400, D700 and D7000. All three of these cameras are compatible with AF-S, G type lenses. You would have to keep in mind that this is a lens made for Full Frame Cameras, so on the D3400 and D7000, which are Crop Sensor cameras, there will be a 1.5x crop factor with this lens. Meaning the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G will act as a 75mm lens on the D3400, D7000 and all other crop sensor cameras. Since the D700 is a Full Frame camera, there will be no crop factor and the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G will be 50mm.

Q: QuestionI know this is going to be a crazy question for most of you but I’m new to Nikon so please ,does this lens ( for night time) add on to your regular... say 300mm lens or do you have to take off your long lens to put this night time piece on ?50mmf/1.8G

• A:Answer Yes... will work fine, providing 75mm equivalent field of view on your camera, in that it is a "crop" (DX format) camera. That's a near ideal range for portraits, as is the f1.8 aperture. To go a bit wider and to get to the true 50mm view on your D40, pick up a 35mm f1.8 Nikon lens also. Inexpensive at $200, and nice image quality.
