  • QuestionIs this camera too advanced for a beginner who wants to learn more about photography?

    Asked by lens shy.

    • Answer It is a little advanced but not much harder that the Nikon I had before this one. I have been shooting for awhile but I bought a beginners book for photography which will give you all the basics

  • QuestionIs the 55-300mm VR lens a telephoto lens?I saw the same specifications of this lens to that of a Telephoto Lens. But the other one says clearly that it is a Telephoto Lens. Here it doesn't. Please specify. Sorry if it is a silly question. I am a newbie and I am just learning.

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The 55-300mm designation on the lens means that it is a variable focal length lens, often called a Zoom lens. This means you can manually adjust the lens to zoom-out to Standard focal length (around 55mm) and zoom-in to Telephoto focal length (generally anything over 75mm). So this Zoom lens allows you to choose approximately standard lens (55mm) or a powerful telephoto (300mm) and anywhere in between!

  • QuestionDo both lenses have image stabilization?

    Asked by Sarah.

    • Answer VR means Vibration Reduction, is an image stabilization technology that minimizes blur caused by camera shake. Normally, to avoid camera shake, use a shutter speed of 1/125 sec or higher.

  • QuestionThat camera recommends to upload photos instantly to facebook the camera nikon d5500 or nikon D7100 and which one is the best and the newest? And what is the difference of those two which is better? Is it the same to adapt wifi ala nikon d7100 or one that

    Asked by Brenda.

• Answer The Nikon D5500 DSLR camera (2015 release) and the Nikon D7100 DSLR camera (2013 release) both have WiFi capability, however, the Nikon D7100 can only access this feature when the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter is attached to the camera. The Nikon D5500's Wi-Fi is built-in. Once the Wi-Fi feature is enabled, both the Nikon D5500 and Nikon D7100 can be connected with any compatible smart device running the Wireless Mobile Utility (WMU) application. This app allows images to be transferred instantly from the camera to the smart device. Once they are transferred you can use your smart phone's file sharing options to upload them to different file-sharing sources or share them on social networks. These particular DSLR cameras are a bit different from one another. The Nikon D5500 has a touch screen and is extremely lightweight but does not have a built-in focus motor like the Nikon D7100 does. Built-in focus motors allow you to have more compatible choices for lenses. In addition the Nikon D7100 has two SD slots while the Nikon D5500 only has one. • QuestionWill Nikon D 80 lens work on this camera?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The D7100 has a built-in autofocus motor. Nikon has not changed their lens mount (for fit of lenses) in over 50 years. Your lenses from your D80 will work on the D7100. You should check the manual for the exact details on your specific lenses for any limitations at all.

  • QuestionSaw a post that said a VR II lens uses ONLY a HB-37 lens hood? Also VR lens uses ONLY a HB-34 lens hood? If, so why include two different lens VERSIONS lens in a bundle? So someone wishing to protect their camera must purchase TWO Lens hoods? WOW $$$$

    Asked by Daddyfish.

    • Answer The Nikon D7100 DSLR camera kit shown here comes with a HB-57 Snap-on Type lens hood for the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR lens. This helps to reduce stray light which can cause flare. This kit also comes with a LC-52 Snap-on Front Lens Cap 52mm for the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens and a LC-58 Snap-on Front Lens Cap for the AF-S 55-300mm lens, along with rear caps for both, to provide protection when not in use. An HB-69 Bayonet Lens Hood can be purchased separately from the kit to keep flare from entering the AF-S 18-55mm lens when shooting.

    Asked by rose1.

    • Answer To transfer images from your camera to a computer use an appropriate USB cable for connection to an open and working port. The appropriate cable for the Nikon D7100 is the UC-E6 USB cable. An SD card that is taken out of the camera can also be used to transfer images to your computer, just place the SD card in a card reader slot. • QuestionWhat's the difference between a 5600 18-140 VR kit and this one?

    Asked by Laura.

    • Answer These two cameras and all three lenses are quite different from one another. When looking at them as kits they both have benefits; the Nikon D7100 kit gives you a camera that offers 51 points of focus, exposure bracketing of 2 to 5 frames and a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 seconds. It also has an option for WiFi with an optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter that will allow it to connect with any compatible smart device running the Wireless Mobile Utility (WMU) application. This D7100 kit comes with two DX lenses, the Nikon AF-S 18-55mm and the Nikon 55-300mm. Both these lenses are VR lenses which use technology to help prevent blur. In comparison, the Nikon D5600 kit provides the user with more scenes/special effects for more options of creative expression and is fully compatible with AF-P, AF-S and E-type lenses. In addition, it has SnapBridge technology that allows the camera to be connected to any compatible smart device running the SnapBridge application. This camera comes with a Nikon AF-S 18-140mm lens that is optimized for DX-format cameras to provide super-sharp images in high resolution. • QuestionWhat is the difference between D 5500 and D7100 in advanced features

    Asked by Addi.

    • Answer While there are a number of differences between these two camera bodies, the major difference between them is that the Nikon D7100 has a built-in motor and the Nikon D5500 does not. This means you will have more compatible lens choices with the D7100 than you will with the D5500. In looking at advanced features, however, the D5500 has an advantage as it has built-in WiFi and a tilt-angle touchscreen/viewfinder while the the Nikon D7100 can only access wireless features through an optional Wi-Fi adapter. In addition there are more features for special effects and editing in the D5500 than there are in the D7100. If you looking for more points of focus the D7100 gives you 51 points as compared to the 39 points of focus that you get on the D5500. The D7100 also boasts 6 frames per second compared to the D5500's 5 frames a second in continuous shooting and also has two SD slots for double the memory space. The D5500 only offers one slot for an SD memory card. To learn more about the differences between these two camera please contact Nikon Support.
