Q: QuestionHow would I set this up for hands-free dictation in a noisy environment, such as a car?

• A:Answer The recorder can use a function called Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA) that sets up the recorder to record only when sound is detected at a preset level. This extends recording time by not recording “dead air” or background noise that can use up memory. We would also suggest using an add-in tie-clip type microphone that can be clipped to a shirt collar or tie. This would help to better isolate the voice in a noisy enviroment.

Q: QuestionOLYMPUS WS-700M DIGITAL VOICE RECORDER:I need to know what mode do I record a lecture in an sports area.I'm sure there are plenty speakers and such, there will be many people. I would like the highest quality recording for the longest amount of time. What would you suggest. I will later want to download it to my computer and put it on my ipod. Is any of this possible??- Oh and with all of the reviews about the construction and the ease inwhich it could break,, why do they not include a case with it. Does anyone know where one could purchase one that would be inexpensive but sturdy?

• A:Answer This recorder does offer MP3 recording which will allow you to use this on an iPod. The construction concerns you referred to are not a common problem or something are service centers are aware of. The cases we offer are soft neoprene storage cases. You did mention you are looking for the highest quality recording, although this is an excellent recorder, the LS series is our highest quality. I would suggest looking at the LS-7 or LS-11. These recorders may suite your requirements even better.

• A:Answer Once a recording is stopped it cannot be appended. You may want to look at a DS-2400 or other Profession Dictation recorder.
