Yes LED (Light Emitting Diodes) are built into the head of a lamp, however typically if an LED lamp stops working it would just be simply a replacement adapter (cord) issue, as the adapter is the driver that drives the LEDs to illuminate. Ottlite does not recommend plugging LED lamps/fixtures into extension cords or power strips unless they are rated heavy gauge, or the Ottlite lamp is the only item plugged into those apparatuses as that could compromise the adapter.
