Microwaves within the cooking chamber produce constructive and destructive interference patterns as they 'bounce' around, which is what can cause food to be cold and hot at the same time (cold spots). From what I was able to find, 'Cyclonic' is just Panasonic's description of how they designed the waveguide to create a pattern that breaks up the hot and cold spots so there is more even heating. It is a nice design, and we loved it for it's very short life, but sadly not well made, ours lasted 10 days.....
