Cover the exposure with scotch tape. Try that. If it works and stops the arcing... remove the tape and paint it with some white enamel paint. ED

I had to make my opening like a “shelf” leaving sufficient room for venting per the Panasonic instructions. The microwave works well, is convenient, and all required dimensions for “built in” installation can be found on line.
