- Answer I took a look online at a manual for the DP-UB820 and I didn't see an HDMI input. Disappointing since I use my Oppo UDP-203 HDMI input port to run my cable box signal through. I was hoping to take advantage of the 820's newer processing chip for this. Oh well.

QuestionSo given that this player has audio outputs, do I even need an amp, or a receiver? Can I just use this as the audio center-piece of my setup? I have an old Samsung BluRay player that came with its own speakers that this thing would be replacing.

- Answer You can use the analog outputs to run wires straight to the speakers but I would only do so if you don’t need the higher volumes of better sound file decoding that a receiver provides. If you just want to listen to the sound at normal TV volume in 5.1 or 7.1 decoding then you can skip a receiver/amp.

- Answer I have this player. It does HDR10, HDR10+ & Dolby Vision with High-Res Audio. With the Sony, the 800 does Hi-Res Audio, but not Dolby Vision. The 700 does Dolby Vision, but not Hi-Res Audio. And Sony doesn't really tell you much about the players. Read the specs on the Panasonic. It has 4 amazing DACs for Audio, and the best processor for Video available to people that is affordable. People are saying this player out performs OPPO. There are a couple scenes where the picture looks like a painting. It is that good in my opinion.

- Answer : Yes, the UB820's Netflix and Amazon Prime apps both output Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos (when present) via HDMI.

- Answer Does your home theater have Bluetooth built in or your TV Panel ? This would allow you to listen using your Bluetooth headphones for all the sources attached to your receiver or your panel. The other choice may be a Bluetooth adapter .

QuestionI have an LG OLED65C8 and a Pioneer LSX 503 receiver that supports all 4k formats pass thru. Should I send the video directly to the TV via HDMI and send Audio via second HDMI to the receiver? Or should I use ONE HDMI from Player to Receiver and then TV?

- Answer Excellent question. You should be connecting this directly to your receiver. If you connect it to your TV first and then have the TV send the audio to the receiver, you will not be able to get the hi def audio files. TV out audio currently only sends 5.1 channels. Unless your TV uses eARC and your receiver also uses eARC. 99% of TVs at the moment do not use eARC. If you are sending audio from the TV to the receiver using HDMI, it's more then likely only ARC, not eARC. If you are using optical out, you will not receive anything over 5.1 channels. So, just connect it directly to your receiver to make life easier and get the full audio as it was meant to be played.

- Answer No. The only reason it's listed as "preorder" on the Panasonic website is because this player is being manufactured and sold and in limited batches, and Panasonic's previous allotment for itself had sold out.

QuestionJust got this player but on other sites including Panasonic it says preorder for ub-820-k with a ship date of January-February and it says New next to it. Is there a new version coming out or is this the same model as this has been out for a while.

- Answer It's the same model. There hasn't been enough stock to go around, so Best Buy just sold out. The preorder is for the next batch of stock from Panasonic.
