- Answer They are not password protected out the box but you can definitely make them password protected by simply using any encryption software like bitlocker, veracrypt etc.

QuestionI bought five of these and have been bitterly disappointed that I can't plug them into my TV or BluRay and watch movies as mp4 files. I use my computer too copy the movies onto the flash drives -- no problem. But my devices simply don't recognize them.

- Answer Had the same problem. I had not pushed through until I heard the click. Once I did that, the thumb drive showed up on the screen.

- Answer I didn't need to format any of them. One was simply defective: did not show up on Device Manager so couldn't format anyway.

- Answer Same problem initially trying to pull back. These are designed to be pushed through. Push until a click can be heard.

- Answer Other types will depend on your device or speed. Newest mobile phones (NOT sure about Apple) uses USB-C as well as newer laptops. Check your device for proper compatibility.
