QuestionI want to upgrade my Inspiron 17R 5737 to 16gb.(currently has two 4s) I have seen the upgrades sold in sets of 2(8gb). So first is this compatible and secondly, can I purchase two separate 8s or is there something magical about the ones sold as sets?

- Answer you always want to use the same size of sticks in each slot if you have multiple sticks inside your computer. If there are already 2 RAM sticks in there, you can replace those two with two new ones that are double the size and you will double your amount of RAM. There is nothing magical about ones sold as sets, other than they are usually cheaper in sets of two, and if you have (2) slots, you would want to use the same size of RAM sticks in each slot.

- Answer This memory will not work as the voltage is different. It is always recommended to try to purchase memory that matches the specification outlined my Apple only. PNY Brand Champion

- Answer Unfortunately it is not this simple. You must check with the laptop manufacturer to see what your motherboard can use in terms of size of memory modules supported, supported voltages and so on. PNY Brand Champion

- Answer Hello, If I understand your question correctly you are asking if 16GB will make a difference over 12GB. It depends on how you work with the computer. Having more memory will always be better to allow faster (and more) multitasking functionality, extra memory for programming functions, etc. PNY Brand Champion

- Answer It could work, but there is a chance it will be unsupported in your Mac. Check with AASP (Geek squad can probably give you accurate info), or go to apple.com/support and check there. Unlike PCs Macs don't always work with third party hardware. Also keep in mind, If your Mac is still covered under an APP warranty, third party RAM will void the warranty.

- Answer It's always better to have two memory sticks of equal size than one of larger size because when you use one stick, you lose the dual channel memory which is better than single channel.

- Answer Aaron, If you Google your laptop Model with memory upgrade in the search you will find a few sites that will show what your laptop will take. I did a quick search with the Info that you have given and it came up that DDR4 is what you need. But, I can't be certain with out having all of your info of the laptop to be certain. PNY doesn't have a make model search. If you still have issues then just take your laptop to the Geek Squad desk and they can help you. Well worth it for the price and performance upgrade.

- Answer Depends if the drive is a DDR3, if its a compatible drive for your laptop, and its generally a good idea to not mix a old drive with a new drive.
