  • Questionhi will the retro fit work with a cox home security system

    Asked by compatable.

    • Answer Hello compatable, Ring recommends installation by professional alarm installers and licensed electricians who are experienced with wiring projects, are familiar with using tools such as multimeters to test electrical wiring, and can read and interpret electrical schematics. We advise you not to install this yourself if you are inexperienced in any of these areas. The Retrofit Alarm Kit is designed for 2-wire zones. Most common are contact sensor zones. • QuestionI have a ring doorbell. I would like to add a spotlight device. Do I need a base station?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hello, Great question. Ring Smart Lights are control by the Ring Bridge, not Ring Alarm Base Station. The Ring Bridge is the central hub that is required to integrate Ring smart lights, motion sensors, and transformers into your Ring App. The Ring Bridge connects to the Ring App using your home wifi network and connects to other Ring Smart Lighting products using a proprietary long-range communication protocol. Amazon Echo (4th Gen) or an Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen), both have a built in Ring Bridge and can be used to setup Ring Smart Lights: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360059329551-Using-your-Echo-devices-as-a-Smart-Lighting-Bridge. • QuestionDoes the Ring system have battery backup? if internet goes out or power.

    Asked by Terryall35.

    • Answer I believe it does. I don’t think linked cameras will work, though, because they require power and an internet connection. The following is from the ring web support site: How does battery backup work? When your Ring Alarm loses power, the internal rechargeable battery will keep your Ring Alarm Base Station online for up to 24 hours. You may have some limited functionality while on battery backup, but you can still arm and disarm your Ring Alarm using the Keypad, and if there is a break-in, your siren will still sound. (Ring app access is only available with a Ring Protect subscription.) How does Alarm Cellular Backup work? A Ring Protect subscription with professional monitoring is required to have cellular backup. When your internet goes down, your Ring Alarm will automatically switch over to cellular backup. You may have limited app functionality while your Base Station is on cellular backup, but you can still arm and disarm your Ring Alarm. If you have professional monitoring, cellular backup will ensure the signal get out.
