  • QuestionDoes this system react to a barking dog

    Asked by Lfchowinu.

    • Answer Hello Lfchowinu, Great question! In battery products, such as the Ring Video Doorbell 4, the passive infrared sensor (PIR) sensors identify visitors by a moving heat signature and sending a signal to your smart device when it detects one. Since PIR's look for heat, if a warm object is too small, it won’t be detected. However, if a warm non-human object is large enough, you might get a false notification. Fortunately, you can control the sensors' range and sensitivity using the controls in the Ring app. Here is a helpful support article with more detailed information about motion detection: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005914666-Advanced-Motion-Detection-in-Video-Doorbells-and-Security-Cameras. • QuestionI have a Ring camera and am on the Ring Protect Plan. Would I have to pay for additional cloud storage if I get a Ring Doorbell 4?

    Asked by Sophie.

    • Answer Hi Sophie. Great question. There are three Ring Protect Plans available for home devices. Ring Protect Basic offers recording for one Ring doorbell or home camera. If this is the plan you have, you will need to add an additional Ring Protect Basic plan or upgrade to Ring Protect Plus for recording on another device. Ring Protect Plus offers video recording for all Ring doorbells and home cameras at one location. If this is the plan you have, an additional Ring Protect subscription will not be required for that location. Visit our support center for additional details. • QuestionDoes this handle the unshaded afternoon sun if it is facing west?

    Asked by Flagstaff01.

    • Answer Hi Flg01. Thanks for asking! The Ring Video Doorbell 4 is weather-resistant and rated for temperatures ranging from -5°F to 120°F (-20°C to 50°C). When hardwired, the device allows charging in the range of 32°F to 113°F (0° to 45°C); otherwise, charging is disabled. Please note that motion detection can sometimes trigger "false" alerts because of moving trees, lightning, the rising or setting sun, reflections off a shiny object, headlights, shadows, and more. To reduce false alerts, adjust your motion zones, remove shiny objects, cut back tree branches that create moving shadows, or angle your device to avoid the sun.
