The main difference is the back lighting type. The 7100 has an LED (edge-lit w/micro dim) where as the 8000 has an LED (edge-lit w/ local-dim). The local Dim is by far the best on the market and provides better blacks and more vivid colors. The 7100 has a dual-core processor where as the 8000 comes with a Quad-Core processor, which means faster web browsing.
