• A:Answer Yes, once you have the drive added to your desktop, you're gonna have to do the following: 1. format the drive so your computer can gain access 2. download crystal disk info (https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/) 3. run crystal disk and you should be able to select the new drive My refurbished ssd only had the following when I read the crystal disk info: - 2GB written - turned on only 2 times before receiving it

Q: QuestionWill a refurb come ready to clone from existing drive? I understand new one is setup automatically to clone existing drive if same size and does not require special cloning software? I don't want this to become a science project to save $40!

• A:Answer It will came blank and formatted, so ready to use. All you need to do is install this drive in your computer (Assuming you have multiple SATA ports; if you don't, you'll need to buy a SATA to USB adaptor), boot off your old drive, and download some disk cloning software (I believed I used a program called DiskGenius, if I'm remembering correctly). Then, with both drives connected, run the program, remove the old drive, and everything should work great!

• A:Answer That will depend on what you receive, but the 870 evo wasnt even released until 2021, and it's unlikely to have passed through samsung's warranty database. It's very likely that you're just getting someone else's buyers remorse return. Between BBs return window and the evo line carrying a 5 year warranty, you should be fine. You should also check the SMART status for total writes. This line has a HUGE write life expectancy compared to most SSDs, so again, you should receive a drive <1 year old and with 99% write life remaining. I went for it and received exactly that. For extra insurance, go to Samsung's site and do a warranty check on the serial number while still in BBs return window.

• A:Answer Its an internal drive, but you could always install it into an external enclosure and use it as an external drive. This one is a SATA device, so be sure you purchase the correct enclosure if you go that way.
