Geek squad does not check these for function nor even that the item is the correct drive (I received a 256gb western digital ssd with the Samsung sticker label transplanted onto it). In communications on forums it seems this is not an isolated incident. But, if you do get the correct drive, it likely has few writes/reads.

Q: QuestionAs far as I can tell I got a genuine Samsung drive. But Samsung Magician says it isn't supported - "Best Buy" shows up as the listed manufacturer in Magician. How can I get Samsung Magician to recognize that this is a Samsung drive?

• A:Answer You may have to reformat in Disk Management. Since it is refurbished Best Buy may have used their software to wipe it after use. Also your Bios settings could be wrong.
