Q: QuestionCan I use this to exchange data from a Mac to a windows laptop with same formatMy old Apple computer is on it's last legs. I want to change the files on it to pdf and then drop them into this hard drive and then be able to pull them into a windows laptop without reformatting the hard drive which would wipe out the Apple pdf files I'm trying to transfer in. Can I use this hard drive with one formatting to do the transfer???

• A:Answer Yes that can be done if you setup the HDD's file system to support both mac and win. When you first connect and set up your HDD it will ask you to do the set up and you can do to support both.

• A:Answer I wouldn't recommend it. You would achieve better performance from the devices primary drive. It would be more practical to move files such as photos, videos and music to the external drive to free up space on the computer so that the games can be installed on the primary drive.

Q: QuestionWhy is my computer sluggish after plugging in the Seagate Backup Plus portable drive?Seagate Backup Plus, once I ran a backup it seemed to have slowed down my computer and the mouse is really sluggish. When I unplugged the portable drive everything started working fine. I am using it on a Windows 7 Dell computer with USB 3.0. I set it up to do a backup daily starting at 7 pm. Any suggestions on what may be happening or what I may have done?

• A:Answer The Seagate Dashboard is probably in your startup by default. Also, you may choose to do full backups or incremental on demand. I'm new to the software, so I removed it from startup and backup on demand using a free software that does imaging quite well. I'm not sure if I can mention it, but my answer will be reviewed before it is posted. I would like to use the Seagate software that came with the drive, but for now, until I learn it, I use the free version of Macrium Reflect. Hope this helps. Also, do you really need a daily backup? I just create restore points in Windows. It all depends on what you are doing on a daily basis.

• A:Answer Yes. It should work fine with any Windows 7/Vista machine that has USB 2.0/3.0 ports (which should be all of them). If your comfortable using Windows file explorer to copy and move files you shouldn't have any problem. If not, then it would be worth getting a Geek (or more computer savvy person) to do it for you.

• A:Answer It depends on the method of your backup. Using Windows Backup, you can specify full disk or use a folder. If you use a folder (or network path) then you can definitely back up multiple devices. If you use the disk method it will only work with the one device you're using. Hope this helps.

• A:Answer your Operating System creates the System Back-up Image, the Seagate will accept any data you send to it. Personally, I use a flash drive of 128 gig to copy my system images. And I will most likely create a 2nd image on my Seagate 2 Terrabyte external drive.
