I, too, have a high quality sound bar, and found that the TV's remote will not adjust the volume with the sound bar connected. It's a little inconvenient but I just keep the sound bar's remote handy to pull in a couple of weaker stations.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can't remember if the sound is automatically muted when I attached my Samsung sound bar or not. I may have had to manually turn the sound off thru the settings but I believe that it is automatic.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are using a Logitech Harmony universal remote, it is almost a minor matter to add a sound bar to your repertoire of devices. The device setup for the "Watch TV" or "Watch Video" will let you add this sound bar as a transparent device for both powering up/down and volume control. In fact I am using this exact setup on one of my remotes. I have both a Samsung TV and Samsung Sound Bar, where the volume buttons control the sound bar. The interface is seamless.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for your recent inquiry in regards to connecting your Rockfish speakers to the LC50UB30U. We are happy to help. As long as your speakers are self powered and can be connected to the analog audio output (red and white) of the TV, this TV would be compatible with them. This TV also has an Output Select feature and when this feature is set to Fixed the audio would come through the TV speaker and the volume would be controlled by the buttons on the TV remote or on the TV. When it is set to variable the sound would come through your speakers and the volume would still be controlled by the buttons on the TV remote or the TV.
