Q: QuestionDoes this device have an expiration date. I had an issue with the ones that my alarm company installed. They expired after 4 years. Although they operate with same lithium battery as your device.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Carbon Monoxide Detectors work by chemical reaction, which is why they have a more limited life. Our 2-in-1 Smoke & CO Detectors should be replaced within 5 years of the manufacture date (as printed on the back of the device).

Q: QuestionMy current smoke detector is a twist off to change the battery? How do you change it on this alarm?
Asked by Barb.
- A:Answer To replace batteries, first, the smoke/CO2 detector has to be removed from its mounting base. There is a second, inner cover that also turns to remove, showing the batteries. Instructions for removal are printed on this cover. Pretty straightforward. Accessing the battery in the SimpliSafe smoke detectors are slightly different. There are 2 lithium C123A batteries in the detector. There is a note on the inner cover that states replace battery after 10 years. I purchased the detector this year and the batteries are dated 2023.

Q: QuestionIf I put in multiple detectors are they interconnected (one alarms they all sound alarm)?
Asked by 303JR.
- A:Answer I believe they will sound individually. If the smoke or CO is strong enough, it may trigger multiple units at the same time. They do operate individually though if they are separated by a decent distance.
