    • Answer Hi, Thank you for your question. Sonance does not recommend installing the MAG8R speakers outdoors, including under a covered outdoor roof. Humidity, temperature changes, and moisture exposure can shorten the speakers’ expected usable life. For outdoor TV areas, we recommend choosing outdoor-rated Sonance speakers, such as the Visual Experience Extreme Series (Sonance VXXT8R or VXXT6R). I hope you found this information helpful.   • QuestionCan these speakers be mounted on a drop ceiling

    • Answer Hi, Thank you for your question. Yes, the Sonance MAG8R speakers can be installed in a drop ceiling, as long as the ceiling tile and grid are properly supported. Because ceiling tiles are not as rigid as drywall, we recommend using a ceiling tile bridge or additional backing support to help carry the weight of the speaker and prevent the tile from sagging over time. You’ll also want to confirm you have enough clearance above the tile for the speaker’s mounting depth. The MAG8R requires a 9-5/8” cutout and approximately 5-7/8” of mounting depth, so be sure to verify both before installation.   • QuestionWill the speaker fit in a 9-5/8 diameter hole

    • Answer Hi, Thank you for your question. Yes, the MAG8R will fit in a 9-5/8” diameter hole. The recommended cutout diameter for this speaker is 9-1/2”, so a 9-5/8” opening is only 1/8” larger and should still be covered by the speaker’s flange/trim. The MAG8R also requires approximately 5-1/16” of mounting depth, so we recommend confirming you have enough clearance above the ceiling and that the mounting dog toggles have solid material to clamp onto before installation.     • Answer Hi, Thanks for your question! For most applications, you’ll want an amplifier or receiver that delivers 50–150 watts per channel at 8 ohms. A standard AV receiver works great for home theater setups, or you can use a multi-channel amplifier such as the Sonance 8-50 or Sonance 16-50 if you’re building a whole-home audio system. As long as the amplifier is stable at 8 ohms and provides clean power within that range, it will pair very well with the MAG8R. I hope you found this information helpful.   • QuestionI only wired 3 speakers in the ceiling. L/R/C. Sonos amp can handle 4 and need to balance L&R. I bought two boxes so have the 4th speaker. Difficult to run wire in ceiling now with drywall finished. Can put the 4th in the wall instead of ceiling?

  • QuestionI'm installing 8 in a large room. Should I put left speakers on the same side of the room (west side) or stagger them for a better stereo effect standing near any speaker? Standing on the west side of the room, you would only hear the left speakers.

    • Answer Switching would work, but definitely recommend getting a good amp with all the newest latest greatest technology to do that for you. Positioning is EVERYTHING, + get a subwoofer

Once the cutout is made and the speaker is placed in the ceiling, you simply tighten the screws, and the clamps automatically engage to secure the speaker to the drywall.
