QuestionI am having trouble increasing the volume on the zone 2 speakers. I can hear the sound coming out but the more I increase volume on receiver it does not make the sound coming form the speakers louder, there is no change. Thank you Brian

QuestionCan I hook up tv listeners to this receiver. I had them connected via rca/ to audio output jacks on my older Sony rcvr. Cannot find any audio output jacks.

- Answer It appears the only audio out is via Bluetooth. I have not set it up yet but it does have Bluetooth TX which means transmit.

- Answer This unit is not intended to be positioned sideways. The possibility of over heating is very possible since the vents are located on the top of the receiver and not on the side.

QuestionTrying to connect Sony STR DN1080 to an AV projector (yamaha lpx-510) using HDMI output B. Home speakers connected and DVD used as input. Sound cones out fine but no video. After much flickering projector says not supported. What is wrong?

- Answer Do you have a device plugged into the main HDMI out? If not, try using that port. If you have something already plugged in there, go into your HDMI settings on the receiver. Try setting HDMI B to “main” and then use the remote to change outputs by hitting the HDMI OUT button.

QuestionI am trying to connect a Phillips Full HD LCD TV (1920 x1080p) to the sony STR DN1080 receiver. I Am using the HDMI output (I tried both A and B) just using an HDMI cable. The TV has no optical. i get sound but not video.

- Answer Make sure you are using new highspeed 4K rated HDMI cables. I ran into the same problem and solved it by upgrading my cables.

- Answer Hi, Aly! The turntable must have a built-in amplifier or an in-line amplifier must be used to connect the turntable to another input on the stereo system. To connect a turntable that only has a PHONO output jack, you need to connect a phono equalizer (not supplied) between the turntable and this receiver. ~Ralph

- Answer According to the manual the effective range is 10 meters or 33 feet with no obstructions but it doesn't say anything about being able to listen to main speakers and another set of Bluetooth speakers at same time

- Answer I do not know. And good luck getting a straight answer from Best Buy or Sony Tech Support. The folks from the Best Buy store are sales folks and will tell you what you want to hear to make the sale. The instructions that come with the unit are suitable only for an electronic engineer. And if you call Sony, you get somebody who may or may not be competent, but whose skill with English is such that you cannot understand a word they say. And if you ask to be transferred to a tech in the USA, unlike most businesses who use cheap labor overseas to save money hiring an American, they do not have that option.

- Answer I have owned Sony, pioneer, and Klipsch speakers.......Klipsch speakers have been the best sounding ones. Zone 2 is if you have another source you want to connect to using this receiver. I have zone 2 as my outdoor speakers that are powered by a second receiver I have. This allows me to play what’s on my primary receiver like my Apple TV or cable onto my outdoor speakers while the primary receiver is playing audio from my fire stick in my living room.

- Answer Definitely yes! I have celing speakers as well...along with floor speeakers, center channel and a subwoofer and this receiver has been the best purchase. I have made the mistake of purchasing lower-priced receivers and I can hear the difference between them.
