  • QuestionDoes this Sony have a wide viewing angle? That is, if a person is not sitting directly in front of the TV, will the picture be as bright and clear or will the picture suffer some fade out at a max angle of 30 degrees?

    Asked by Dave.

    • Answer Hi Dave, Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, wide viewing angle is a feature not available on the X85J TV. However, this TV includes a light sensor that optimizes picture brightness to room conditions, boosting brightness in light rooms and reducing it in dark ones so you get the perfect view. The BRAVIA X85J 4K HDR LED TV is designed for all your favorite content. Powered by the 4K HDR Processor X1 and TRILUMINOS PRO, picture quality comes to life with vivid color and realistic contrast. The best viewing distance also depends on the size and the display resolution of the TV. The recommended distance for comfortable viewing depends on the video or program you are watching, the viewing environment, and the physical conditions of the person watching it. Please refer to this link about recommended viewing distance for watching TV. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-50x85j/articles/00008601. We also recommend the X95J that has X-wide angle and X-Anti reflection (75” & 85”). The X950H from the 2020 lineup will also have X-wide viewing angle. With this TV, every seat in the room is now the best seat in the room with enhanced viewing angles that preserves color when watching from the side and an anti-reflective screen that reduce glare in bright rooms. • QuestionIs professional installation recommended for Sony 50" X85J Black HDR 4K UHD Smart TV - KD50X85J? Thank you Kova

    Asked by Kova.

    • Answer I set this TV up myself. The instructions are clear and it was easy to assemble. It is quite heavy and large so you should have 2 people to remove it from the box and place it where you want it after assembly. If you are not comfortable lifting a large, heavy TV then professional installation may be the way to go!

  • QuestionDoes the x85j or x90 support VRR and ALLM? What is the bandwidth on the hdmi 2.1 inputs? Thanks

    Asked by Justkeepexploring.

    • Answer Hi Justkeepexploring, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, Sony 2021 TV models X85J and up will support HDMI 2.1 via HDMI inputs 3 & 4 (4K 120/ALLM available at launch). VRR was updated with the current software but it was only for X85J and X91J models. For other J models, the software is not available yet. Some HDMI devices that output 4K Enhanced format (18Gbps or above) signal requires you to use a 48Gbps Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.
