install the battery (AAA) and turn them on.

I just plug mine and my wife plugs hers into 4 different model TVs. I think all flat screen TVs use a standard plug. Or get a convert and separate extension from Best Buy. We also use them on our computers. If you don't here it first check the speaker button or buttons on the top line of your laptop adjust as necessary. Also besure to check the up arrow at the lower right corner of your screen. It shows various symbols, one of which is the loudspeaker. Check that it is turned on too.

Make sure you're plugging the headphones into the headphone jack. Also, you might need to replace the battery in the headphones.
