QuestionI purchased this receiver 11/13. I flowed direction to connect 2 extra speakers to the front and also how to switch from speaker A to speaker AB but the button on the receiver that I press it like they says to switched from A to AB want not doing it

- Answer Hi Hurk, Power reset the AV receiver, simply unplug the unit and wait 1-2 minutes then plug the device back in and power on. If that doesn't work, perform auto-calibration and try again. QuestionTo configure STR-DH790 to 5.1 surround with Front B speakers in another location. The manual says use A/B speaker function. However, when selecting the Speaker button on front of amplifier only 'A' and 'Speakers Off' is available. How do you get 'B'?

QuestionOur AV receiver is hooked with our Sony Bravia 900 thru Arc. Everything has synced well with audio on all. The problem is when we watch tv and press select/play on DirecTV remote it turns on the AV speakers. We do not wish to run all the time. Help

- Answer Thank you for your assistance, David. At this time we are running the Directv thru the tv HDMI and then the arc HDMI between tv and receiver. We would like to run the tv and receiver audio seperatley so the AV is not on all the time. But the second we press the select or play button on DTV remote it triggers the AV to come on. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

- Answer Hi Lanka, You cannot connect a soundbar to the AV receiver. Dolby Atmos is achievable by installing Dolby Atmos speakers with surround set up. - Answer The short answer is no since this new audio codec is not present in this receiver. Sony may offer it in a future system update. As of today the only way to get Sony 3D audio is through the Pulse 3D headset that will be sold with the PS5.

QuestionWe use a smart TV and watch/use YouTube TV. The TV is connected to the WiFi and there is no cable cox or digital input. Will this model use HDMI back to the receiver to generate sound through the speakers? Is there another option in the Sony product line?

- Answer In order to get sound from your TV to the STR-DH790 you have at least two choices: 1) Use the ARC enabled HDMI connection on the back of the TV (ARC=Audio Return Channel.) 2) If you don't have a TV with an ARC port, then use the optical audio output of your TV to connect to the optical audio input on the STR-DH790. You can also do standard analog output from your TV (red and white RCA jacks corresponding to left and right audio channels) to the STR-DH790, but if that's all you're doing, you didn't need to spend the money on an audio receiver!

QuestionI Purchased and Sony receiver and had it hooked up to my surroundsound the technician recommended that I get a sub woofer for my surroundsound which one is the best subwoofer to purchase he was and something about a digital one that’s not too expensive.

Questioncan i hook up my old Sony str-dh380 home theater subwoofer to the str-dh790. The other speakers from the sam system work fine with it.
