A:Answer I spoke with Sony's only repair folks in NY about this a year ago. They know this unit has a flaw, but Sony refuses to do anything except ship you a still-fault-prone replacement of exact same model (and hope it runs out your 2 year warranty).
I had 1st fail at about a year, my replacement lemon just died yesterday... 2 months past the original 2y warranty. I'm out all this money to have had only 2 years of use.
There are troubleshooting guides online at Sony and answers at Amazon Questions that walk you through steps (air flow, any stray speaker wires touching where they shouldn't, factory reset), but once you're through the checklist, HOPE you are within 2 y warranty.
Sony will ship you another, and hope it doesn't fail.
Again, I'm out of a lot of money with two dead units in 26 months, no warranty now.
