- Answer Hi BamaMan, Thank you for the inquiry! Unfortunately, you can only connect maximum of 7 speakers. The "two" in 7.2 channel is labeled for subwoofer meaning you can connect 7 speakers and 2 subwoofers. Regards, David

QuestionWe have a Sony AV System 3 Receiver and Remote that we bought in 2004. We are not sure if it is the remote or the receiver that isn't working. If we bought a STRDH790 receiver and remote, would that be compatible with all the other components we have?

- Answer As far as speakers go, yes they should work. There are very few instances where they wouldn’t be compatible. Mine is set up with two speaker sets from different manufacturers and works perfectly well.

When matching speakers and Audio/Video (A/V) receivers, the ohm rating of the speaker should be equal to or greater than the ohm rating of the receiver to avoid a risk of hardware damage. Any speakers that feature bare wire connection will work to this receiver, as long as their impedances are from 6 to 16 ohms. Regards, David

- Answer Yes you can. I bought this system a month ago and use it in my house. You will need to purchase a center speaker as well as 6 additional book style speakers with base to get 7.1 sound. All speakers should be passive with the exception of the base. Klipech makes a good surround sound speaker system package so you might check that out JBL also has some great speakers. You cannot use this system with a surround bar

- Answer At set up, if you paired your receiver to the tv, then No. When you turn on your tv, it also turns on your receiver to match what your watching. If you did not pair your receiver, then each is separate and you can watch tv and listen to music !!! Hopefully this helps !!! ... Bill

When matching speakers and Audio/Video (A/V) receivers, the ohm rating of the speaker should be equal to or greater than the ohm rating of the receiver to avoid a risk of hardware damage. - Answer I don't think the Bose 900 smart sound bar can be paired with a receiver like this Usually sound bars are stand alone devices that already have a built in amplifier So it defeats the purpose of a sound bar to try and pair it with a receiver The type of speakers you're going to want to use with it are floor standing speakers/bookshelf speakers A center channel speaker A subwoofer And satellite speakers/ in ceiling speakers
