  • QuestionCan it work thru cement to access car in a cement garage from 3rd story unit?

    Asked by Cement.

    • Answer Wi-Fi coverage will depend on numerous variables, including, but not limited to: - Placement of the router in relation to the desired coverage location(s) - Physical obstructions (e.g. walls, etc.) between the router and your devices - Distance between the router and your devices - Which Wi-Fi band you are connecting to (2.4GHz vs. 5GHz) If the router is on the 3rd story, reaching downward, 3 stories, into a concrete garage may be a challenge. A Mesh Wi-Fi solution, such as one of our Deco Mesh Systems, may be worth considering in your scenario.

  • Questionwhich router works with telephone connection?

    Asked by 1420.

    • Answer If you mean telephone wire from the wall outlet to your modem then you need a DSL modem and possibly one supplied by your provider. If you mean a telephone wire that runs from your equipment to your phone for VOIP then you need a modem with a VOIP port. Your provider can possibly assist in giving options that work with their service or provide you with a rental. Either way a modem is likely the hardware you need and a router is not the equipment you should be seeking for this purpose.

  • QuestionI'm about to pull the trigger on this router as well, can you post some of the improvements w/ speed & range that you're getting w/ this router. Thanks!

    Asked by bobalay.

    • Answer The router has been great for me so far. Best part for me is more ports, 8, than other AX11000 routers. The area covered by the TP-Link AX11000 is greater than my previous router, a Netgear R8500. I was able to drop using an extender, the AX11000 covers everything I need. I was able to connect AX to an AX laptop. Wired speed is the same as any other wired device, you get it all. The interface is nice, and easy to navigate. Lots of options to setup as you need. Overall it's been a good buy. I got it on sale and look for price comparisons too.

  • QuestionExtended warranty benefits and geek squad set up fees or do I need a modem and router or just the ac 110000 to replace Xfinity router

    Asked by Duck.

    • Answer If you have an xfinity supplied modem/router combo you have two choices. You can keep the xfinity equipment and configure it for bridge mode (This mode just means the combo becomes a modem only). Then you need only setup the new router as you would with any other modem. I know that this used to be an option with xfinity and one you could do on your own or possibly with the assistance of tech support. Your better option is to ditch the rental and pay for your own equipment which will pay for itself with dividends.

  • QuestionDoes this router support wireguard protocol server and client?

    Asked by wireguard.

    • Answer No it doesn’t. And for $350, it should. It has OpenVPN which cuts your speed in half. It’s been two years since VPN was added, and it’s looking pretty grim as far as wireguard, as TP link has been prioritizing newer models. You have to get the other AX11000 that actually gets an update. The Asus one. Or get a raspberry pi to add wireguard and advised as an added bonus.
