Questionhow does this phone become expandable when I bought the extra handset for the phone it says to register it you must put the handset into the base but this base has a corded phone?

- Answer Jake - The VTech CS6949 supports up to five handsets. The compatible cordless handset for your base is the model VTech CS6909. Here's how you can register your cordless handset to the base. 1. Take the cordless handset off the small charger. 2. Press and hold the Find Handset button on the corded base for about 4 seconds until it shows Registering then release the button. 3. Press the # button on the cordless handset then place it back to the small charger. After about 10 seconds, the handset displays Registering.... When the registration process completes, the handset displays Registered and you hear a beep. The registration process takes about 90 seconds. Thank you, -VTech Support

QuestionIs it possible to silence the incoming message on the base phone as it being recorded on the answering machine? I tried turning the volume control on the base phone as low as it would go (goes as low as 1 bar, not none). Reason for question: privacy.

- Answer Hi - We are sorry if you are having difficulties turning the Call Screening off on the VTech CS6949. Here's the procedure on how to turn it off: Step 1: Press MENU when the phone is not in use. Step 2: Press ▼or ▲ to scroll to Answering sys, and then press SELECT. Step 3: Press ▼or ▲ to scroll to Ans sys setup, and then press SELECT. Step 4: Press SELECT to choose Call screening. Step 5: Press or to choose On or Off. Step 6: Press SELECT to save and you hear a confirmation tone. Hope that helped! ~VTech Support

- Answer If you are asking whether you can connect a standard phone cord from the wall into the cordless remote, the answer is no. There is no phone Cat 3 connection on the remote unit. The phone signal must be connected to the base unit from the source jack in the wall via the Cat 3 cable first, and then it will wirelessly send the signal to any and all remote units.

QuestionCan you hang it up on a wall

- Answer Yes. It has a 'stand' for the desk that must be flipped down to make the back of the phone flat. Then there are two places where screws will hold the phone to the wall. In addition you have to 'flip' a plastic piece where the top of the handset goes in (just below the switch hook). Once flipped it will stick up and keep the handset from falling off.

- Answer Gene - We are sorry to hear that you are having difficulties unblocking a number, here's the procedure on how to delete a call block list entry. Step 1: Press MENU when the phone is not in use. Step 2: Press ▲ or ▼ to choose Call block, and then press SELECT. Step 3: Press ▲ or ▼ to choose Block list, and then press SELECT. Step 4: Press ▲ or ▼ to choose Review, and then press SELECT. Step 5: Press ▲ or ▼ to browse through the directory. Step 6: Search for the desired call block entry. Step 7: Press DELETE on the handset or press X/DELETE twice on the telephone base. Hope this helps! ~VTech Support

- Answer Freddy - Yes, the telephone base of the VTech CS6949 will still work during power outages. However, answering machine, screen display and the cordless handset will not function during line power mode Thank you, -VTech Support

QuestionWhen my father answers calls using his vtech CS6949 telephone (base, not cordless), there is a buzzing sound in the background that is difficult to talk over. He has a second, older telephone; when he answers using it, there is no buzzing. What is prob?

- Answer Never mind, just bought & installed, it's perfect! Mounts just like traditional wall phone. The display pops back flush and the desk mount comes off.

- Answer Hi - we're sorry to hear that you are having issues with reviewing the missed calls on your VTech CS6949 unit. If you want to review the missed calls one at a time, press the CID button on the base or on the handset. If you do not want to review it one by one, just press and hold the CANCEL button. This should be done when the phone is in idle mode. Hope this helps! Thank you!
