- Answer If you are referring to the drawer above the freezer, that is a deli drawer. As far as replacing it, I would suggest you contact your nearest Best Buy/Geek Squad and seek their help. I would hope you purchased a warranty.

QuestionThere's another model almost exactly like this (Model # WRX988SIBM) and I'm wondering what the difference is (other than the price)? The only thing I see is the 986 says Fingerprint resistant. Both have gray sides, which I thought could've been it.

- Answer I must say, the fingerprint resistant surface is FANTASTIC! I would definately recommend it. My previous refrigerator didn't have it, and it was a pain to deal with. I was constantly wiping the fingerprints from it to make it look nice. The resistant surface on my Whirpool looks great all of the time...and that's with 6 people constantly in and out of the fridge.

QuestionWhat is the capacity of the ice storage. I was told 33# by chat, but I find that hard to believe that little bin holds 33#.

- Answer About 3# would be it. However it makes ice quickly, So pre-plan for heavy use and put a container in the freezer and dump the ice as the bin fills.

QuestionIn trying to replace type 2 filter, we cannot get the old filter to drop down to release. It appears stuck in place. Since it is about 6 months old, can we call a service call under warranty for this? Would there be a charge??

QuestionWhat are the actual temperatures of the refrigerated drawer settings? It says "Cold Drinks, Meats/Cheeses, Assorted Items and Fruits/Vegetable" but all of them yield the same temperature - around 38-43 degrees. Tested with 3 thermometers.

- Answer I wondered about this too. It is a very handy drawer, however. I find it very useful especially since I don't have to open the 2 main drawers. One flaw I do see though it is easy to push the selections and change it by mistake. I keep mine set on the Assorted Items but if you hit with your hand or you use the area as a shelf while you are trying to get something in or out it will change. Seems like your selection should have a Hold down of several seconds to lock it in.

QuestionIs there any way to remove the inner drawers in the freezer drawer for cleaning? I called Whirlpool and they said no, but that seems odd. I tried wiping them down in the freezer, but the water from the damp cloth started frosting on contact.

- Answer In response to Whirlpool's answer, I read the care instructions from the manual provided. They do not mention anything about how to remove the drawers in the freezer, which was my question. It seems like a flaw in the design if we can't remove these drawers, as the only way to clean them without having the water from the sponge freeze is to empty the freezer completely, turn it off to let it warm up, and then clean it, which is not practical.
