Yes, the 5.1 audio from the SACD player via HDMI would be decoded by the receiver and play back properly.

Please try again later.This receiver has extra hdmi inputs but most hi end sacd players use 3 pin xlr connectors or rca connectors for independent left and right outputs. this receiver has extra connections for rca connections. also some sacd players use optical sound which is far superior connection in which this receiver has two optical ports to give you incredible results! the sound fields on this receiver are excellent compared to less expensive options with plenty of power that can make the difference. I also have the aventage 3060 which is top of the line to compare this receiver too and I'm very happy with this receiver performance . if went a less expensive option I would not have been satisfied at all... look at the back of the receiver pic and you can see you options... good luck
