Q: Will this starter edition be able to import Quicken 2015 files/data?
A: The answer is yes IF you are moving from Starter 2015 to Starter 2017. If you had Deluxe or a higher version of Quicken, you'd need to buy Deluxe or higher to convert your files.
Q: Will Quicken Starter 2017 import and update Quicken 2003 files?
A: Yes. I have been using Quicken Basic/Starter edition for about 30 years. I update every time I get a new computer. It has never been a problem. Quicken has separated from Intuit now, so you will have to create new passwords for the online stuff. But the passwords for the accounts themselves can stay the same.
Q: Will I be able to use Quicken to pay bills through my banks? Does it create categories?
A: You can pay bills through Quicken if your bank has Direct Connect bill pay enabled (you’ll need to contact your bank to set this up) or if you use Quicken Bill Pay (http://quickenbillpay.com). Quicken contains a set of already-created categories that can be assigned automatically to your transactions. You can also customize the category list if needed.
