This film gives a great insight on the dominating world of Soviet hockey and the cultural and moral dilemmas of the Russian players who are torn between their loyalty to their families, friends and way of life and the glamor of playing in the NHL in a free country. Excellent interviews with some of the greatest NHL players of that time. If you like hockey and even if you don't, this film is a slice of political history between the U.S.A. and the Soviet Union decades ago.

Tracks the history of the Red Army hockey team using one of their greatest players as a focus to move the documentary forward. For the most part the doco maker stays out of the way and lets the players and events speak for themselves. Interesting to see where they are now, especially in light of all the changes they have experienced.

I purchased this DVD for my husband who is a hockey player (goalie) and a fan. He liked it a lot. It is a documentary--so be prepared for that when you watch the movie. I would give it 5 stars if they would have offered the digital download with the movie.
