Purchased this to replace the Yoga 900.

I bought the Acer R-14 after owning the Yoga 900 for 14 days. During those 14 days with the Yoga 900 I had constant issues, ranging from non-stop WIFI disconnects (which required a reboot and sometimes a reinstall of driver), bi-hourly crashes of the graphics driver, and intermittent touch screen freak-outs. The Yoga 900 is a beautiful machine, the screen is wonderful, the hinge design is top notch, but I need a machine that is consistent in its performance.
I came from the Acer S7 391 and it was the best computer I have ever owned. It was thin and light, but had terrible battery life(<3hrs). I upgraded for work/school and I need a consistent performer. I chose the Acer R-14 due to the similar processor/RAM configuration with the larger 512GB SSD and lower price. It is slightly thicker and a pound heavier but for the cost and storage tradeoff I am happy. The screen is still bright and sharp with very good viewing angles. I like the dual torque hinge that Acer uses. It stiffens up the further you open it up, resulting in less screen wobble. The R-14 also has a full size HDMI port and a USB 3.1 Type-C port. The Yoga 900 skips the HDMI and only uses USB 3.0 on its Type-C port. I currently do not have any Type-C devices, but like that it is slightly more future proof.
The R-14 still uses a traditional pin type power adapter that is very small, but with a long cord. I was very disappointed with the Lenovo use of a USB port to charge the laptop. The power cord is too short and the block is huge. Requiring that you cover other power outlets or buy some sort of extension. The battery on the R-14 is smaller than the Yoga 900 battery, but I had not experienced the claimed battery life on the Yoga 900 either. Other reviewers claim that is due to the ultra-high resolution screen sucking up more power. I still get a solid +6 hours of life on the R-14.
I prefer the feel and user experience of the Acer touchpad. I had a few small issues with the Lenovo unit, but it may be a personal preference over a functional issue. The keyboard is much the same. The keys on the Lenovo have a slightly more satisfying range of motion. I did experience more double letter entries with the Lenovo though, so it again is going to be a personal choice. The touch screen on the Acer has been problem free. I have not had the phantom touches and swipes that I was experiencing on the Yoga.
The Acer R-14 has a soft touch plastic bottom, with aluminum on the top side/around the keyboard and similar aluminum and plastic around the screen. I like the looks of the machine, although it isn't a piece of art like the Yoga 900 and its lovely hinge design.
I am very pleased overall with the Acer R-14 based on price, features, and the general lack of issues in my experience. I am hopeful that this will surpass my last Acer as the greatest computer I have ever owned.

bought after returning an HP. I like the black keys with backlit white lettering for low light use. i7 and 512 SSD for this price a huge plus, others are only i5 and 256 and cost more. the touchpad is big but not too big. the screen same thing. i do not have bionic vision so the HD screen is more than great the QHD seems to be an unnecessary thing for a 14 inch screen. The computer is solid, nice confortable edges, like the rubberized base and slick black brushed metal finish, not slippery but not rough either its good. the hinge system is great that it is stiff when in touch tent and display configurations but is still easy to open. some say the screen is dim, the screen is fine they just need to turn up the brightness. i would like to see a better power connector, the 90 degree mini plug seems like it could break but as of yet its ok, i use it on my couch and the cable comes off straight out not 90 degree but it does hold in good. A optional non 90 connector would be great. the website showed it having an ethernet jack and that was deceptive. especially since it clearly does not. an included usb/ethernet would go a long way to making this really earn my gracious 5 star rating. the battery life is very good, it lasts longer than the several hours i have used and charges quickly, it emits next to no heat at all you really have to look for slightly warm spot under it and i have never heard the fan run ever. the touch screen is responsive and i like the multi touch capabilities once I learned them. I think it may be a windows setting for the screen scroll in touch to scroll from 0 to 60 so im not counting that against but i would like acer or best buy to comment on how to keep the screen from overscrolling or scrolling too fast. have to be careful with some reviews as they are having trouble with a new OS and not the computer. windows 10 is really a good fit for this convertable and much more intuitive than others. I still give it a 5 star as built but the acer specs saying it had rj45 connector when it didnt really did frost me. when i called and emailed both best buy and acer about it all they said was "yea, thats not correct". then they did change the website next day. didnt help my situation any but i hold that to the poor best buy and acer marketing and support not the hardware people. I do wonder why there is still a usb 2 connector when it has two usb 3 and one usb type c. they dont talk much about the type c so i would suspect it is not a full feature rich connector but i am glad its there. regarding the single usb 2 well its still more useful to have than not. overall it is a very good machine as built.

I love this 2 in 1. It's light weight, fast to start up and shut down. I am not a big fan of the built in foxit pdf program, but you can download Adobe and easily work around it. I also had to use Chrome instead of Edge - I use this for work and all of their software doesn't work with Edge or foxit yet.

This is the third laptop candidate to replace my wife's 13 year-old Toshiba. The Toshiba was showing its age and Vista was dying. Needed to have 15.6" screen with decent resolution (4k meets that requirement). Needed to be quick (6th gen I7 satisfied that) Had to be stable with no surprises or hiccups (The HP Spectre managed that.) Major issues were not related to the hardware but the learning curve going from Vista to Windows 10 and finding an email program that was as close to Windows Mail as possible. Windows Live Mail looked perfect but it was flawed. Sent emails tended to not make it to the Sent folder and printing emails got truncated. No easy fixes were ever found. Tried Thunderbird and after a few stumbles, that's what she's using and is reasonably satisfied with it. After about a month, of living with the system, her "kick the tire, light the fire" modus operendi seems to be working out OK. Great computer! Highly recommended.

This is possibly the best value for a laptop in this category right now. You get the newest generation Core i7, plus 512 GB of solid state drive. The touchscreen is a nice touch; I personally don't use it too often, but it's nice to have. Possibly my only complaint is that it's slightly heavy for my taste, but given that it's a 14" laptop you expect that, and it's still plenty portable.

I went through two open-box computers in two weeks prior to buying the Acer R14 new. I am glad I did because this laptop is excellent. It is fast and multitasks wonderfully. Sometimes I split the screen and surf the web while streaming Netflix with no problems! Excellent display with a very crisp and clear picture. Lightweight and easy to move from room to room. Transitions between standard, tent, and tablet modes seamlessly. Compared to other laptops with nearly identical specs... it was a steal!! I purchased a usb numeric pad and cd/dvd drive and keep them on my desk. They are slim and light as well so not a hassle for me to use them peripherally! The only c9n for me was no backlit keyboard which i thought I couldn't live without but gor what I saved on the laptop.. I will buy a lamp :)

I bought this computer about a month ago, and I could not be happier. It starts much faster than the computer I owned prior to this one (a Toshiba). The touch screen is wonderful, the hinges are durable, the packaging is great, the battery life is awesome, the aesthetic is beautiful, etcetera. You get the point. It runs games like a dream, too. My only complaint is of the touchpad. It can be a bit inaccurate at times. However, if the computer broke today, I would order another as soon as I could. I love it.

I bought this as a replacement for a 4 year old desktop. Great investment! It automatically detects laptop versus tablet mode. The ssd is really nice to move files around. USB 3.0 ports are great. I was a bit worried about windows 10, but there is no problem. Because this is a 2 in 1, having windows 10 is great. The windows 10 store is definitely lacking, but it will get there eventually.
All in all, great product, great price.

I looked at the reviews before I bought my Aspire R14. Most were positive and I decided to buy. I have no regrets. Great computer. The computer loads up fast, does not overheat, is quiet, is thin, has long battery life, and the tablet mode comes in handy. The price is right. I'm pleased with with this purchase. The only concern I have is where the computer gets plugged in. I try to charge the computer in one location not to accidentally bend the plug on the cord. But with the battery lasting several hours, this has not been an issue.

Simply a great laptop at a great price. You get all the latest specs (i7, 512 GB SSD Hard Drive, and a USB 3.1 Type C port) all in a well priced laptop.
The touch screen is zippy and nice. The brushed aluminum makes this thing feel premium, and the backlit keyboard is a great added touch.
Windows 10 in tablet mode blew away my expectations. This thing is my new workhorse for sure.

The Acer boots up and runs programs fast due to the solid state hard drive and I7 processor. I looked at a lot of options and this was the best value by far. The touch screen and folding tent feature makes this ideal for presentations. I love it!

After reading the reviews I picked this one. It has not disappointed me. Fast and stable. Major update after a week or two and I uninstalled McAfee and installed the one from Best Buy. No glitches or nuisance popups. Installed Office 365 w/1tb of cloud for 9.99 a month, looks and works fine.
Great buy for a relatively inexpensive computer. I'm not a gamer or facebook junky. Everything, email accounts (3) pictures, passwords (dashlane seems nice too), transferred without issues. Windows 10 will take some getting used to. I was a Vista guy.
This computer is not rocket science level. It works, behaves, and has giving me no problems.
Go ahead and get one.

We have had this laptop for about six weeks. It has performed well. It boots up very quickly due to the solid state hard drive. Everything has been running very quickly on it. We have had only one issue so far. After loading on an antivirus software, the touchpad stopped working. Took it back to Best Buy and the geek squad had to take off the antivirus software and the touchpad started working again. They installed another antivirus software for us that costs $50 per year with first six months free. When I got the laptop home, I tried to turn off the touchpad with the shortcut, FN + F11. This did not turn it off. So the only way to turn off and on is thru the control panel. Not terribly inconvenient but obviously not as easy as the shortcut method. With the touch screen and the mouse, we have turned off the touchpad and do not really miss it. When it is turned on, it is kind of maddening when you are typing and accidentally touch the pad and messes up the typing. The back light on the keyboard is very nice. There does not seem to be any hot spots on the bottom of the computer like our last one. I guess it is do to the solid state drive that helps everything run cooler. Hopefully this will extend the life of the computer.

I purchased this laptop for my Grandson to start off his 1st year in college just right. It has all the features to help him maintain a high Grade Point Average. It also has the fast speed of a Intel Core i7 and a 512 GB Solid State Drive to insure he finishes all of his homework in record time.

I was hesitant to purchase an ACER when my wife needed a new laptop. This machine is a perfect balance for her. It's big enough - 13" screen is too small and the 14" is more compact than the 15.6" screens - but still large enough. The processor and SSD make for a fast machine. The screen is clear and the touch screen is responsive. The keys have less travel than she is used to - but she seems to have gotten used to it. Strong wifi, fast boot up...not sure what else I can say. Was a great value!

I purchased this laptop as a gift for my son. He will be going to college next year and needs a good laptop. He read several reviews for laptops, he decided this was the best product for the best price. The only issue we have with this laptop is that the Intel sticker on the laptop says I5. We bought an I7. We almost returned product to store but my son ran a program to make sure it was an I7. When we were sure we had what we paid for all was well.

Overall, I am satisfied with this 2-in-1 laptop and have not even used most of its features yet. It is well built and has a good feel to it. Glad it was on sale. The screen can never get too bright and it is quiet and never runs hot. It does require two hands though, just to select between Home and End. It would be nice since the laptop is black that the ports on both sides would be highlighted some how to make them easier to see in low light. I'm happy with the purchase and it will serve well for quite some time.

I had an HP for the past 7 years, so I was overdue for an upgrade. I was in between the HP Spectre and the Acer Aspire. The HP was attractive and had a larger screen, but the i7 processor was "standard in the Aspire. I determined it wasn't worth the cost to go for the bigger screen, and have been thrilled with the performance.
