Customers are saying
Customers are positive about the Nitro 5's performance, especially its speed and gaming capabilities, and many find it offers good value for the price. However, customers are negative about the battery life and some report issues with fan noise and heat generation during intensive use. The relatively small storage capacity is another common concern. While some appreciate the keyboard, others find the laptop to be somewhat heavy.

Good quality for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop runs well. It does overheat quite often which makes the built in fan very handy. The battery does not last while gaming so I recommend keeping it plugged in to avoid interruptions.

ACER needs to step up their quality control
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first one i picked up had a thin blue line running down the center of the screen. I updated the drivers to make sure that wasn't it but when the line was still on the bios screen itself, I knew it was a hardware malfunction. I returned it to the store and had to drive to another store just to pick up the replacement. 2nd one we have had for 4 months now and running fine. My wife doesn't use it for gaming. I bought it for her for the sturdier keyboard and longer battery life. I occasionally play some games on it but rarely since I have a tower dedicated to gaming. YES, MAKE SURE THE CHARGER CORD CLICKS WHEN YOU PLUG IT IN. No click, no chargie... I updated the RAM to 16gb before trying to run Star Citizen on it. Runs fine at med to high graphics.

does the job
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this computer 2 years now, wow. It is ok. The battery does not last. It has otherwise held up, no weirdness. I use it every day I'm in town. I don't travel with it, so I probably should have got a desktop. It does the job. Probably more expensive than it needed to be.

Good for light/medium gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: -Runs light/old games amazingly (LoL, HL2, Valorant, Borderlands 2, etc) -Customizable fan speed -Haven't had any hardware malfunctions after a month of owning it Cons: -Gets EXTREMELY hot running anything more graphically intensive than a 2013 era game if you don't turn the fans up to full blast -The fans are EXTREMELY loud when you turn them up to cool off your PC -Unless you have your laptop plugged in, games will run at a capped 30fps (there might be a way to change this, but I haven't found one) TLDR: Buy if you're looking to play not graphically intensive or older games, but if you want to run anything newer than 2014 you should probably get something with some higher specs.

A gaming machine? Where's the sound??
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd really love to give this an excellent review but there is one essential feature that they seriously need to address... the volume! This computer is listed as a gaming computer... so where's the sound output? There are many people and videos that have talked about this flaw with this particular model number. I'm pretty tech-savvy so when I go into every sound app, app-related instrument panel, control panel, driver setup, YouTube help videos, Reddit forums, and still can't hear the sound even when I have it turned all the way up, that is a problem for me. It's pretty sad that when I use this computer, I have to shut all of my windows and turn off my dryer in order to hear this computer kick out some sound. I looked for a long time for something I could afford that had the features that I needed... I really like the fact that it has an extra connection for another internal SSD (hard drive), it has a light-up keyboard which is great because my vision isn't so great, it has a num-pad for quickly keying in figures, and some other basic essentials that are necessary before I'll consider buying a laptop. It really is too bad that the one thing that it lacks is such an important element. I'm a digital content creator, so if I can't hear my own voice on the videos I create, that leaves me pretty disgruntled (especially for a "gaming" machine). By the time I opened this up and found this out, it was too late to return it. I would have opened it as soon as I bought it but life got in the way for a while. I did buy some external speakers which allow me to hear, but that defeats the purpose of having a laptop... portability just took a dive out the window because it's hard to put external speakers in my back pocket.

Meh.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a PC, this was my first PC - not awful by any stretch of the imagination - however, the sound is so low when streaming most things, but then super loud when doing other things like certain video games. The battery died after a year and overall I just wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure there is a better one out there, and for my next computer, I will be sure to do more research.

Bad sound quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty good computer but it’s advertised to have “immersive gaming audio” but when you put the speakers on the very bottom of the laptop it makes it pretty dang difficult to have an immersive experience with the audio. I have to use a separate speaker all the time because the computer is so quiet even on full volume. Still happy with the computer as a whole but the speakers being out on the bottom of the laptop was a bad choice.

I looked in line Sunday it was 599.00 . So I go Monday to the store because my child was in school . Sales person that waited on me was super nice and informative about the produce I want to say but the price was one day later 699.00 . So I explained I just saw it on there the night before well he said pretty much sorry but it is now 699.00 . Prob my last purchase because of this price issue .

Acer Nitro 5 15.6"
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks great, once all the Fn Windows updates loaded, it took 2 hours, everything seems to work pretty good. Bought it for the back lit key board but they only stay on a few seconds at a time. If it is plugged in they should have the option to stay on? Not that impressed with this laptop.

Bad volume
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed an upgrade for my gaming laptop. This laptop is good, although the sound quality is terrible. The volume is always at 100 and still isn't loud enough. May be better with headphones, but I don't use those. If I could go back, I would not have purchased this unit because of how bad the volume output is

Do impulse buy
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Eh, it was okay. You can get much much better from even different laptops on BestBuys website. Or in my opinion go to something like cyber pc and just build your own for way cheaper. I returned this like 5 days later.

Defective RAM
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a follow up review. Kudos to the Geek Squad for diagnosing the problem with the laptop. It appears to be a defective RAM. We will see how it turns out after we use it during our church service. Stay tuned.

Looking good, but lacks good function.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One the first 20 days of owning the computer, it started acting up. I sent it to Acer to help fix it, and they spent 3 weeks fixing it. All it needed was an update, and I lost a month without the computer.

Good beginner laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great budget/beginner laptop can upgrade the ram to 16gb makes it way better! This generation of the nitro 5 had the ability to upgrade storage using either another NVME SSD or a 2.5 in SSD unlike in the newer versions where you are forced to only use NVME which aint bad but on this generation you just had more options. The battery was the only real draw back it would die so quickly.
