I've used Photoshop Elements for a long time and I used its bigger cousin Photoshop. The reason I switched was mostly based on price since Elements are much more affordable and can do most of what Photoshop can do even if you are serious about photo editing. The previous version I was using was 11, so this was a big and worthy upgrade for me. If you're using version 14, this one may not be much different but I can't confirm that. . It doesn't matter if you are a beginner, an enthusiast or a pro. The basic editing areas - quick, guided and expert - will most likely fit your needs and learning it is easy for the most part. And if you decide to go with the full version of Photoshop, all your knowledge with Elements will be transferred easily. I installed Elements 15 on a Windows 7 laptop using a 4th generation Intel i5 processor with 16GB or RAM and an SSD drive and it performed flawlessly. 5th and 6th generations processors will surely perform at least as good. There is a lot of free and lower cost photo editing software out there and I've used most of them. Some are really good but from my own experience nothing beats Adobe's. You pay for it but your experience is always less frustrating. I had some issues with not being able to preview raw images and I couldn't figure out why but it still loaded and edited them without any problems. For that reason and because it doesn't show the file size when choosing compression like previous versions did, I am not giving it 5 stars. Still, it is my preferred photo editing software considering the price range and the excellent results.

It's not user friendly like Picasa was. It's way too hard to learn - and doesn't have the options Picasa had as in easy-to-use manual cropping, and framing abilities with variable widths & the option to pull the color of the frame from the photo.

My picture editing needs are simple. I have been using Picasa for a few years and it did a good enough job but at times I wanted to do more with my pictures. I don't want the learning curve of more professional programs like Photoshop. For people like me Photoshop Elements does the trick for quick and easy edits. The biggest plus with Elements is the guided edits with step by step instructions on how to achieve the results you desire. The basics are there: Color correction, tilt correction, cropping, and resizing along with some fun editing tools like picture stacking, speed effect, reflections and even panoramic photo stitching. And of course there are tools to change your photos into ones that look decades old. Elements also comes with an photo organizer to keep track of all of your photos. You can create albums or just keep the photos in folders. When you need to edit a photo you can select it from your library and chose to edit it in Elements. Quick and simple! Tags and metadata can be edited in the organizer. I installed Elements on my Windows 10 desktop. When installing the applications you have the option of purchasing Premier Elements which includes a video editor or can simply install the trial version to see if if fits your needs. I found Elements very easy to use and it's now my go to program for quick and easy photo editing.

If you've ever looked at Photoshop and thought that it was too complicated for your simple photo editing needs, then Photoshop Elements might fit the bill. Even seasoned photographers will find some great features in this affordable and easy-to-use software. Here's my take: PROS: - Simple, guided interface. A toolbar at the top pf the window offers nearly 45 "Guided Edits" with step-by-step instructions, allowing you to edit facial features, create a collage, add motion blur and paintbrush effects, and so much more. - Turn a frown upside down. The facial editing features in Photoshop Elements are second to none. You can turn frowns into smiles, open squinting eyes and make other quick tweaks to portraits with the help of simple sliders. Edits are applied in real-time. There's also a quick 'revert' button to correct any mistakes. As with most tools in Elements, it's easy and quick to use. - Easy photo organization. The "Organizer" tool lets you search and filter all of your photos by people, place, keyword tags, date, and more. You can even combine search criteria to narrow the results. Perhaps most impressively, there is a "Smart Tags" feature which automatically identifies what is in your photos: faces, landscapes, animals, trees, etc. It's frighteningly accurate. - Tons of advanced editing features and settings. For being a cheaper version of Photoshop, Adobe sure doesn't skimp on advanced features. There are simply too many settings and tools to list in this review. CONS: - Slow to import photos. Using the Organizer tool, it took Elements over an hour to import all of my photos (close to 2,000). I understand that it has to scan each photo for facial recognition, location data, etc., but it seems strange that Facebook and other online applications can do this instantly. - No automatic album creation. The Organizer tool will combine photos by place, date, people, and more, but it doesn't actually create albums automatically. It would be nice if it logically grouped photos from the same date and location into one album. OVERALL: Overall, this is a top-notch entry-level photo editor. It's incredibly easy to import, organize, and edit photos. It's feature set, especially with the guided instructions, is unmatched. At this price point, it's an easy recommendation.

At 15 versions, Adobe has a winning formula

I've been a sporadic user of Adobe's "Elements" software since the first few versions (I think I actually used Photoshop Elements 1.0) - I've since used versions up through 11 and 12 on the Mac platform and decided to run this copy on both a Mac and Windows 10 device to fully suss out any new features and give a thorough review of performance, etc. First thing we'll focus on is the packaging. You still get CDs/DVDs containing the product for both Mac and PC with the associated activation key being stickered to the PC DVD sleeve - This was a bit off-putting as a Mac user as I hadn't yet removed the other disc sleeve from the box and had trouble finding the product key. The real issue here is that the box and its associated materials are still designed around CD/DVD media in this day and age. Maybe its because I'm a Mac user, but I buy/use just as many PCs these days and I haven't had one with an optical drive in some time. I wonder if Adobe would be better served, considering how cheaply you can produce flash media nowadays, to go with a small USB drive with both versions of the software onboard, along with a more elegant, longer lasting key card that could be stored away with the USB drive (I'm inspired by Microsoft's latest packaging for Windows 10 and other products) - That way we can keep the media and key for re-install and you're not costing your customers WITHOUT optical drives the 1+hours to download your software before they get to experience it... Now on to the software itself. As I mentioned before the UI of the software seems largely unchanged since even the Version 10/11 I'd last used on the Mac, If anything I recall those versions more closely resembling their full Adobe CC counterparts whereas this Elements software seemed to be simplified further, even when choosing the "Expert" views. What I liked about the software was the speed with which each operation was completed. Complex filters, big brush applications and lots of other changes were real-time (I'll attribute some of this to the fact that my hardware is top-of-the-like Core i7-based kit) but some of the performance seemed snappier than the Photoshop CC counterpart I'm used to using. Accuracy and results from the brushes and filters was as good as I see coming off of the professional CC apps, and I LOVED that the product took a preference for whether-or-not I wanted to use its Photo Organizer or jump right into Editing (My workflow doesn't use Adobe's Express Organizer, but I find it a competent organizer of media for those who don't have an investment in Lightroom or another photo management software. It still resembled "Lightroom Elements" in a way but since that product doesn't exist I assume its meant to be just that. And that's my last point. Adobe has for years produced these high-quality, feature limited products under the "Elements" line - Where are the Illustrator and InDesign Elements products? Or even a product that merged the best of those two into a single consumer tool for graphic design? Not related to the quality of the product but every time I touch one of these excellent Elements products I'm reminded that there's something missing there.

I'm really enjoying this program. I have been taking pictures with my NIKON DSLR for the past 2 years. I use my camera at my family events. I have never utilized a program such as photoshop to clean up my pics until now and I have to say that it makes my pictures POP! This program really cleans up a lot of the noise and over saturation of colors. I like being able to clean up my pictures. I have been asked if a few of my shots were done professionally. I would definitely recommend this product, its easy to use and has many presets that will clean up any photo you have on your PC or harddrive. For an added bonus i use a Surface Pro 3 and it doesn't have a disk drive, no problem there you just go to Adobe's website and download it from there. Great program!

It's been a long time since there is a more advanced photo organizer and editor for my collections. I was quite surprised the ease of use of this product, coming from Adobe. They've simplified the menu options but still managed to provide a much more needed features to edit your personal photos. If you have a lot a family photos, this is definitely the best of the best in the market. The editor also comes with photo organizer. With a simple import, you are on your way to organize all of your photo albums. A great start for Adobe and to fill the niche in the market with the lack of a decent album application. :)

I will start off by saying that I have been a user of the regular Photoshop program for many, many years! I wanted to try out this program because I was looking for a way to easily do some basic things to pictures without having to do it in the full Photoshop program...because that can get kind of time consuming. I have to say...this program definitely delivered! It overs a great way to do some basic editing on your photos, as well as some more advanced options as well. If you are new to photo editing or photography, this program does a great job of not only explaining what different effects do, it also makes it very easy to add those effects to your pictures. The program is basically set up with 4 different sections. There is a eLive section which offers lots of tutorials and help when it comes to photo editing which can be a great resource for people just getting into picture editing, or even pro's as well! Then there is the Quick editing section to do very simple things like adjusting exposure, lighting, color and things like that. Then there is the Guised mode which helps not only teach you about editing certain aspects of your pictures, but guides you through how to do it. You can adjust things like skin tone, levels, resize and crop and add vignettes to your photos. Then there is the expert mode which is basically just a stripped down set of Photoshop tools that you can use on your pictures. Things like red eye, patch, stamp, brush, sponge, and then some drawing and text tools as well. Overall, I think this is a great way to get started with Photoshop...and also a very easy way to quickly edit your photos and also add some cool effects! I would recommend this to anyone getting into the photography field, and even to some seasoned pro's like myself!

I'm truly a novice when it comes to editing photos. I really appreciate the easy to use interface on Elements, and while I haven't figured out everything the app can do, I've certainly already used it to create some beautiful photos and to clean up some photos that didn't come out well initially. I would recommend this app if you're looking for something a bit more robust than iPhoto/Photos on the Mac and the Photo Editor on PC, but you're not willing to spend weeks/months/years learning a full photo editing suite.

Upgrading to this version from version 12, there are definitely some changes mostly to make the guided edits easier. Overall, the experience of using the software has improved and is improved somewhat with some nice features added in. The key thing for me was the photo organizer which has been updated and enhanced so you can search the database using multiple keywords. In terms of editing this is a must-have software suite for anyone who takes lots of photos and needs a suite that can help your organize photos and provide good tools for most editing needs. Keep in mind though that this isn't "Professional" editing software and that is evident in how the user interface works. While I don't mind the guided edits I don't find them beneficial and would rather just have the software open with the tools I need with menus (no guided anything). Like in other recent versions of this software, these guided edits are still there and to me are annoying as I would prefer not to use them at all. There is an expert mode but it's not the same as just having the software open with the tools and menus you want all the time without choosing. I'd say from an older version like 12 that this may or may not be the upgrade to do, I will say for me that it was a good one because the organizer was updated in ways that work better for my needs.

I am not much of a software techie, but I use photoshop and vegas software here and there for myself, family and friends. I know for a fact I don't dive deep enough into this software to use its full potential but for a average Joe it works great for me. Know mind you I have been using photoshop for eons so don't think you can just dive into it like microsoft paint. I would get it though, it has many great features and I am digging the new ones with this update.

Decided to take this for a spin and see how I can improve on the photos of my Grandma that I take when I visit her in the care home and it did a good job. I especially like how I can easily find them in the program based on date taken, etc. The program does have a slight learning curve and it may take a weekend or two to completely master it's features.

Adobe Photoshop Elements has less features than the Adobe Photoshop Pro version, but for your average user, will have everything you need without bogging you down with complicated features only professionals tend to need. It features a full spectrum of photo editing, including photo organization, quick fixes, color correction and removal, and more. It can also create text from your photos, allows you to substitute new backgrounds for your photos, can add motion blur, and can even turn a frown upside down (literally). The filters also allow a lot of photo manipulation, allowing you to make photos look like drawings, give them a cartoonish look, or even make them black-and-white. It also has a lot of fun features, such as custom frames for your photos, custom Facebook banners, and collages made with not just photos, but effects as well. You can also create gifts, such as photo books and custom calendars. This is an excellent package for anyone who wants to get into photo editing, and will do many of the features automatically if you want to take the guess-work out of the job. The batch editing feature lets you get a lot of editing done quickly, so you can spend more time creating more memories and less time editing them.
