Light refresh but still the best consumer editor

The Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements bundle gets its annual refresh again for 2023. For those who have never used either program, both Elements products are non-subscription consumer versions of Adobe’s premier subscription products Photoshop and Premiere. Other than being perpetual licensing instead of subscription, the Elements versions are slightly stripped down versions of their subscription counterparts. The Elements interfaces are easier to navigate and contain beginner friendly tools to assist first time users unfamiliar with photo or video editing. Both programs feature three editing modes: • Quick: Opens a streamlined basic interface for quick edits. • Guided: Contains guided tasks along several categories for many common editing jobs. The guided tasks explain step by step how to achieve certain fun or creative effects or perform certain types of edits. • Expert: Expert opens the traditional timeline in each program. It’s the best option for those already familiar working with media editors. In addition to the three editing options, both programs also share access to the Adobe organizer. The organizer is one of the best features of the Elements bundle. It allows users to search automatically or manually across a device for all media. Once media is imported into the organizer, users can organize, categorize, and tag media with names, locations (automatically imports GPS metadata), captions, star ratings and more. It’s a great way to keep huge media collections organized, purge dupes, and provides easy access to the photos from with both Elements programs. The two best new features in Photoshop Elements 2023 are moving photos and peek through overlay. Moving photos allow users to add motion to photos and export the file as an animated gif or an MP4 clip. Multiple areas of a photo can be masked and edited to move in different directions. For example, I used a water fall photo and had the falling falls moving downward, the lake water at the bottom moving outward, and mist from the water fall moving out and upward. It’s a fun feature and can even add new life to even dull or uninteresting photos. Peek through overlay is a little more basic compared to moving photos. It allows users to frame photos with clip-art style graphics and adjust depth-of-field and other effects creatively. The final noteworthy new feature is a search function in guided edits. In addition to the above new features, the standard Photoshop editing tools as well as quick tasks like object erase, collage creation, background replace, creative filters, and others are still there with many being improved for 2023. On the Premiere Elements side, the only real noteworthy new feature for 2023 is the artistic overlay filter effect. The filters can give clips an artistic effect mimicking paintings and pop art. Also new for both Elements programs are web access and companion mobile apps. The mobile app version for my phone is still in private beta and requires another app be installed for access. I prefer to wait until the app is out of beta before testing. Both apps also received under the hood improvements to improve stability and performance. So, there aren’t a ton of new features for 2023. I would say unless creating animated clips is a must-have feature, there isn’t too compelling a reason to upgrade from the 2022 version. However, there are enough improvements and new features to warrant an upgrade from 2021 or earlier versions.

Guided area of photo and video editing is awesome

This is perfect for what I need it for. I am not an expert with photography, photoshop, or the similar words with video. But I want to have nice videos of my kids to share. The video editing I immediately used to make a montage of my kid going from learning to skate to playing hockey over the last year, it was awesome, there was a good selection of music to choose from and it was all built in, that is really what this software is designed for, those of us that don’t really know how to expertly use these but can be guided through. On the photoshop side I was able to make sure everyone was smiling; when you have 30 people in a group it is hard to get everyone to smile, but there is a built in option that walks you through merging several shots into one to make sure everyone is smiling, it is a life saver especially right in time for the holidays. I have both premiere and photoshop which is how they seem to plan on you buying it as if you don’t there is always a button to open one or the other even if you don’t own it. I don’t love the built in upselling but at the same time I really wouldn’t recommend not buying both unless you are absolutely sure you wont work with one. But for people like me sometimes I want to make a combo of videos and sometimes I want to edit a photo depending on what is needed at the time. I have tried a ton of different editors and as someone that doesn’t have the most time to learn a new skill in this area I absolutely love how easy these applications are to use and the ‘guided’ use that is built in for people exactly like me. Not that is perfect. I noticed that one picture I tried to remove people in the background it tried to make the sand go into the ocean, I tried again except making sure to not include the ocean in my remove object brush and it did a much better job, so there is a slight learning curve but overall, I am able to do things with these guides that I just can’t give enough time to, to learn how to do without the guides and don’t have the money to pay someone else to do for me.

Adobe's Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements for the 2023 year is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to quickly and easily edit their photos or videos and for anyone who doesn't like Adobe's Creative Cloud payment options. There are a lot of great tools included in both of these versions that will help people create pictures or videos that look like a professional edited them and most of those tools have a guided walkthrough or tips on how to use them, making it incredibly easy to use some really powerful tools. The interface is a bit dated and of course it doesn't feature all of the nice to have tools that Photoshop and Premiere feature, but I think overall this is a much better product for someone who is new or knows what they want. I have a harder time using the full versions of Premiere and Photoshop just because their is so much there and if you have no idea what you are doing it can be a bit overwhelming, whereas the Elements versions of Premiere and Photoshop have a lot of great tools and walkthroughs to help you use them effectively. I think this is a great bundle for anyone who only infrequently edits photo and videos or for someone who only needs the basic tools (not basic at all imo) and doesn't need all the additional bloat that comes with the full versions of these. Also, as I mentioned, this is great for anyone who doesn't want to deal with the Creative Cloud subscription and would rather just own their software outright. If you are interested in getting started with photo/video editing, or if you know that these have the tools that you need I would fully recommend the Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements bundle if you need/want both, if you only need one or the other these are also sold individually.

I have been using Adobe Photoshop since version 4 was published in 2000, back when rendering a photo after applying a few filters and changes meant you had to wait for a good 30 minutes to see the changes. it blew my mind then and it keep getting better year after year. Photoshop Elements 2023 have a few updates that made it more easier to deal with especially with the addition of Adobe Sensei AI. adding features such as motion to a still photo and adding depth and much much more. as for Adobe Premiere elements I have to say that I have been enjoying the last few editions so much that it became a must to get every edition, every year. I use Premiere elements a lot for work as I splice videos and apply voice over and sync audio that doesnt match videos. premiere is very very easy to deal with even if you don't have ANY experience. another way I use and enjoy premiere is for editing the footage I get from my drones. I have a DJI Mavic Air 2S and the newer DJI mini pro 3 and using the footage that i get from both to make nice videos (long and short) much easier. Installation is very easy: If you have an adobe account you will be asked to sign in and then activate the product using the serial number you have. if you do not have an adobe account, creating one will take a couple minutes. I love my adobe products and I use them almost daily.

I subscribe annually to several Adobe business packages and am used to working with the existing versions of Photoshop and the video editing software to post digital content. When I looked at the promo info for the 2023 Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements software I was impressed with the blatant wording that it was a one time purchase versus a subscription service. I then loaded the software and went through various issues on my laptop and then switched to using a desktop computer instead I liked the fact that both programs have the options to have guided instructions to create photo projects or video projects. They also have the expert mode so you can bypass the step-by-step guidance which can be cumbersome if you are used to working quickly without any assistance. I am glad they offered the beginner levels for people to strengthen their skills in making digital content. What I was not happy about was the fact that they only have a trial app for Android and for IOS so it became less appealing to me since I was hoping for a streamlined process to post reels on social media quickly. I still recommend the products and hope that Adobe will reconsider providing apps for smartphones that are more helpful in the future.

I've been using Adobe PhotoShop Elements and Premiere for many years and have gone through several versions. The products work so well, I had not upgraded in probably 6 or 7 years, When this new version came out, I decided to give it a try. I am extremely happy with the new version and find it to be a worthwhile upgrade. It just works faster and has so many more options, yet retains the familiar functionality and interface of the previous versions. I hate it when software developers change things just for the sake of "something new". I really love that Adobe did not do that here. If you've ever used any previous version, you will feel right at home with this one, but you'll discover many new amazing features. Not only that, existing features have been refined and improved. For example, in Photoshop, the tools to select a subject and remove backgrounds has always been good, but now it works so well, even a novice can make custom enhancements easily. The added filters and adjustments are amazing. I highly recommend this product o anyone who needs photo and video editing software.

Review of Adobe Premiere Element and Photoshop 2023 The Premiere Element 2023 and Photoshop Element 2023 includes pack of options and tools for non pro users but enough and mostly more than needed for regular usage. Among handy tools, the guided edits that includes 87 guidances to modify photographs and add-on effects. Then can use the templates that allow to put together diverse feelings in the image, like collages that still can include different type of adjustments and divide in area for better focus. The product specification makes AI & Automation as one of biggest feature and option. However during the usage I couldn’t notice how the AI enhance the process or at least seems unnoticeable at first glance of usage. But I find great between both application, the organizational feature that I setup the folders and location, automatically arrange the files and easy to access per different type of order and category. This basically help me to focus on the images and tools of the application to play around to work on Slideshow, Photo Collage, Quote Graphic, Photo Prints, Photo Book, Greeting Card, Phot Calendar, Video Stories and Video Collage to mention some of default. Its seamless integration between the organizer part with each application, and ease to upload in the adobe cloud, ease the process. What comes short: 1. Unable to connect to Google Cloud or Dropbox or iCloud out of box. Require additional steps for Add-On 2. Mobile app is separate from the package. It has to be downloaded in the mobile and activate as separate application and purchase it. As of this righting it is Beta and free, but from what I read it is not inclusive of the Premiere Element and Photoshop Element. 3. Require separate license for Windows and Mac. If it was obtained while having windows, then switch to iOS devices, need to purchase new license. 4. Share option out of box is limited to Email, Flickr, Twitter, Vmeo, YouTube, Facebook, and can’t add new connector to different platforms. To finish, the application is powerful for non pro users, and offer more than needed for basic users and does simplify and ease part of the process. But all the limitation having to purchase additional license for mobile or other tools I find a bit overhead.

For a new user of this software package, you will likely be using the guided menus to help you achieve the desired outcomes. As you gain experience, you will feel more confident and try more effects and editing to make your presentations pop. I have been a user since 2018 and find this update to be more complete with some new bells and whistles as you would expect from a mature and stable software package that has a few new things added with each new version. Adding motion effects and sound really makes your presentations look like a professional did them. The look and feel has not changed over the years and once you learn the flow of work to create your masterpiece, it just falls together. Not a steep learning curve, but a nice balance of "do it for me" or the option of "I want to create my own masterpiece". Although stating the obvious, be patient with 4K files as you need a high horsepower processor and larger memory computer to work with these large files. They will take longer than 1080P files, but will come out stunning. As I have not used the full-on version of Adobe, I cannot comment on how much more it offers, but this suite of still photo and video editing in one package at this price is a real bargain. It is powerful software at an entry-level price. The help files are well written and valuable for new users. The package is pretty intuitive and easy to use creating stunning results. It is must-have editing software in my opinion.

I used photo shop elements over 15 years ago and needed better photo and video editing tools. I installed this on my Mac M! chip computer and the software works perfectly. Many great features to discuss. There are many demos and tutorials to show you how to maximizing each feature. I tried removing the background and applying a new one and it was super easy. It makes fixing flawed photos easy. Editing videos was just as simple. I had a video I needed to splice together as one camera started the recoding and another finished it. When i used the built in computer software, you could tell where the splice occurred bot form an audio and visual perspective. I loaded the two videos, synced and the new audio takes over seamlessly. The video makes it look like you are transitioning angles and you can edit they way it transitions. Once complete, i was able to trim off any overlay and convert to an mp4 quickly. Very impressed. There are tons of preloaded backgrounds, animations and enhancements to choose from. Photos look much better and videos look professional. Im glad I decided to ditch the inadequate preloaded software and upgrate to Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements.

I really like the power of this software and the ease of it's feature set but as a user of other Adobe suites, I feel that the user interface on this program seems very dated and reminiscent of late the 90s - 2000 era. It's vastly different than the sleek UI that the modern day Adobe suites don. It's hard to over look this as we are about to go into 2023. However, I can't deduct a star for the UI because the function of the software is really great. The autocorrection is my new favorite feature. I seldom will use the autocorrect function but being able to choose from several real-time samples of autocorrected images is a great way to shape up some under or over exposed photos and save a ton of time dialing in the perfect edit. And that is what this software is all about...saving time. The simple interface and limited tools enable you to quickly punch out some nice edits with only seconds invested. There really is no learning curve and what you do learn here will springboard you to the pro platforms later. Pros are going to find themselves going back to the full suites but for the vast majority, this is really all the software you'll need to produce pro results.

I just recently began to dig deeper into adobe photoshop and premiere with what you can do. In the past I have just used to simply color correct some photos or do just very basic editing. But I told myself this time I would dig deeper and see what I can do. I absolutely love the guided tutorials on photoshop they show you several cool features and walk you through how to do them. It lets you keep learning so you can work your way to that expert setting and you imagination go. Premiere is a very intuitive software for editing. It has a low floor for you to start but a very high ceiling to learn how to do everything. I have spent more time working on photos trying out all the. We features and just have dipped my toes in premiere but so far it is great and I highly recommend for anyone that does any creative work, heck I recommend it for people that just take personal photos and home movies what you can with them is truly amazing. The only thing I recommend is a decent computer premiere especially uses a lot of memory and can slow down, but even trying on a mid range computer I was able to use it pretty well.

I'm a longtime Photoshop user at work, and I've dabbled with video editing as a hobby for a few years now. I wanted access to Photoshop's broad range of tools at home, but I couldn't afford to get saddled with a monthly membership fee. Elements is the perfect solution for me. Installation was quick and easy, and the programs don't take up too much space on my harddrive. The software is very intuitive. There are both beginner and expert modes for you to use depending on your skill level. This version of Photoshop Elements had a bizarre little quirk on my computer. For some reason, the text in the dropdown menus was comically oversized. Forcing the scaling to 100% via the preferences screen reduced the text to a reasonable size, but now everything else is tiny. Trying to change the high DPI settings for the application within Windows didn't help with this either. I'm hoping that this will be fixed with a software update later. Premiere Elements didn't have this problem. I really enjoy these programs, and I find that I can perform most tasks in them quite easily. I definitely recommend these for anyone who wants to get into photo or video editing.

I use a Mavic 3 drone, and an iPhone 13 Pro Max for photos. I have a few older higher end digital but I generally don't even use those anymore since the iPhone is always with me, and more convenient overall as I'm not doing this professionally, just as a hobby and as favors for people or clubs or organizations. There's going to be things here that I likely won't end up utilizing but having been a heavy user of the older versions of photoshop back 10 or more years ago, I know it's great having features there for when I DO need them. I'm not a fan of the initial window that opens. It gives you an overview, asks what you may want to do, or there are buttons in there that you can press that will THEN actually open up the photo or video editor. I'm not sure if there is a way to bypass this yet or not, I'm still looking. I'd prefer to click the icon on my desktop or start menu and actually open the program I'm trying to open, not this interim first step they've put in my way. Starting with photos. You can do "Quick" or "Guided" or "Expert" mode. I love the quick mode and the previews of things they have. Open the photo, and start looking through the smart fix options, exposure, lighting, color, balance, sharpen - they all show the photo you've opened, and as you simply hover over an option, it previews it instantly in the main window without having to apply. Very handy, since I've used other apps that I had to actually apply the look, then undo if I wanted something else. You can also have it show a BEFORE and AFTER here, so rather than simply showing the results and them removing the results when you moved the cursor off the option, it will show the original on top or next to, your choice, and you can direct compare the results. Handy. Guided gives you results to look for - skin tone correction, levels, resize, remove objects, straighten, vignette, etc. And each option has a graphic showing an example of what it would do. This is where I think the lesser Elements versions excel, since for someone who is NOT doing this professionally (and thus probably has the full cloud suite of the higher end programs) it's a great way to get where you want to go even if you're unsure of where that is. I know many normal people out there try to remove objects from photos. It's a very handy thing for vacation pictures and such, if you want to remove an object or a person from a photo you took so it's less cluttered and focuses only on the person you intended to capture. And I have to say, while it's been a few years since I've done this with any program (and in the older photoshop program I had to use the clone brush very carefully to achieve even a halfway decent level) the process the program uses is much much better. I tried it on a scan of a contract I had handy, just as a real test to see WHAT it would try to do. And while it's obvious when you look that it replaced things from other parts randomly, since text doesn't quite line up, it was way better than I expected. So, I pulled up some vacation photos and tried it on them. I had a shot of my kid when he was about 9 at Disney World, a photo of when he met Mickey Mouse. One of them shows them facing each other inside a tent, he's right in the corner where a large pole and the cables holding the tent ran behind him. I selected him, removed him, and was absolutely blown away. Had I been browsing this photo in any other place; I wouldn't have realized it was touched up. Once you remove an object, you then also still have a spot healing brush and a clone stamp option right here as well to do more manual touch up if needed. The results were stunning... All my years using the older photoshop versions and doing this manually, I got fairly good at it, although again, not being a pro, I never perfected it. But this blew me away. Even the lighten and darken option, the auto fixes for the files I'm testing with worked quite well. And again, after you click the auto button, right underneath are sliders to adjust and tweak to your heart's content for shadows, highlights, and midtones. Now the expert mode - this is what I'm used to seeing, similar to the old school Photoshop interface. Filters, layers, effects, all the tool buttons down the left side. If you've ever used photoshop, then you will know this screen and be right at home. Although I'm thinking that the majority of the people who will get this are going to be normal people who just want to improve their photos, and likely won't spend much time in the expert layout. But it's here if they want to keep perfecting a shot or simply want to play. I found that my son loved doing things in here when he was younger and had endless fascination with what he could do with the clone stamp. The photo side is pretty much what I would have expected, a nicely balanced set of tools, options for absolute beginners to advanced users, and effective in all areas between. Then I tried the movie side of things. This is where I pulled out family videos and drone videos to experiment with. Adobe Premiere Elements is laid out very much the same as the Photoshop Elements. Quick, Guided, and Expert. I decided to try something very common for normal people - a phone video that's sideways. I found one I wanted, went to open it, and then learned that this won't open something on removable media. When I went to open a file, I browsed to my "Videos" folder which is on a micro-SD card. And it didn't like that. I was able to browse easily and see thumbnails and previews when I was looking for a file to open, but when I tried to open it, I received the complaint that it has to use a video importer for an external source like this. OK, I told it to do so, and a bit later another window opened up. And unfortunately, that opened up EVERY FILE ON THE CARD, not just the folder I was trying to open something from. Since this card also has my redirected photo folder AND my Music folder, that means it now is giving me almost 21,000 files to select, without any file structure, without any preview. Just file names. This was a big fail. Clearly, you're going to want to put whatever you want to work on physically on the hard drive of the computer manually BEFORE you begin work. I copied some files to the C drive and tried again. That worked much better. And it makes sense, write speed is much faster on the SSD than on removeable media. And everything ends up on my laptop before it gets put in its final storage location anyway, so in a real workf scenario, this importer thing wouldn’t even come up for me. One button click, I was able to rotate a video, and give it the proper orientation. That will be handy for people like my mom... I brought in a video taken from my Mavic 3 drone, a nice 5k video. My first annoyance is that it's presented in this absolutely tiny window. I'm on a 4k screen, and the preview window is a portrait orientation window with the video in a tiny part of the center, as if you turned a phone from landscape to portrait while watching a landscape orientation video. But if I bring in a video from my phone, that shows up in a larger window, with expected orientation, looking like a standard landscape video editing workspace, where I can actually SEE what the video is in a large percentage of the screen. I don't know if this is simply due to the very high resolution of the Mavic 3 video file or what. Both play normally in any video program, VLC or MCP-HC, so it's not some problem with my Mavic doing some strange processing when writing the files. For people working with videos from their phones, which I would guess is a large percentage of those who would buy this program, at least things are looking more normal in the workspace. Again, there are quick fixes like editing things for shake reduction, color, lighting. You can create pan and zoom effects, trim, remap time for special effects. You can add artistic effects, everything from neon to conceptual, pastoral, landscape oil effects. There are 15 transitions in the default quick mode as well. The final two options under quick are for titles, and to add music. And these all make things FAR easier to do than the Pinnacle Studio I've used more recently. The Guided option for Premiere Elements has the basics that people generally look for - trimming and splitting, adjust brightness, shadows or highlights, adding and animating titles, transitions. It has the fill frame to easily fill in the black frames on the sides of movies people take with their phone in portrait mode. Another thing my mom would find helpful. Animated mattes, animated overlays, animated graphics, luma fade, gradient wipes. There's just a LOT of quick and easy options here. It also makes it easy to add narration or a music track. Then they have the "Fun Edits" section under Guided. All the really cool looking things like forward and reverse bounce back effects, slow or fast motion, videos INSIDE the title for really neat opening effects. Glass panes, animated skies, time-lapse or stop motion (which my kid and I would've used years ago when we'd do stop motion for Lego things). Expert mode puts you back in a similar layout to Quick mode, just with a LOT more options available, and FAR more transitions. I have to say, overall, I'm impressed. Again, I'm no expert, but I've used Photoshop for years back in the day, even if I wasn't using it to its potential. I've used other video editing programs for years, most recently Pinnacle Studio. And this is a MUCH more usable tool than what I've done in the past. And when I look at technology, I'm usually trying to determine how would the people I know, family members, use it, what would their needs be, and how many phone calls would I get when they're looking for support. I have used both of these programs for years primarily because there is no other choice. The system is actually three programs. Photoshop is the photo editor and Premier is the video editor. The third component is the Organizer which I use more than either editor. With over 22,000 photos and several hundred videos, the organizer is instrumental in keeping track of all of them. A good starting point is the actual installation of the 2023 program, which did not disappoint in being extremely frustrating, as they have been historically. I kept my (2020) catalog on a different drive than the program is installed on. The installation prompts asked me about my existing catalog and therefore, I assumed that since it knew the location of my catalog, it would update it in the same location. Not the case. It created a brand new catalog on the same drive as the program. Supposedly, you can move catalogs with the manage catalog feature. However, it would not give me the options necessary to move the upgraded catalog to where I wanted it. The entire process of upgrading and getting the catalog and photo links all fixed took hours. There are some nice enhancements to the 2023 program, but nothing major to the actual program. It is still very slow, often goes non-responsive, and crashes occasionally for no reason. When you’re working with pictures or videos and want to edit one, the organizer opens the respective editor which isn’t quick process. Maybe because the editors are so powerful, the whole process of editing a photo/video is very bulky. The photo editing program has different “modes” depending upon how much editing, or maybe more appropriately how much experience you have working with the program. The program has some very powerful editing features, but the more involved the editing mode, the less user friendly they are. This is especially apparent when working with layers. In the more amateur side (guided), I tried to make some minor touch ups with the healing brush and it simply didn’t work. Seems to be sporadic, maybe depending upon the file type or complexity. Even though it is called guided, there are not really any prompts that guide you through en edit. Beware of the automatic red eye fix when importing photos as it has resulted in black eyes for a few of my photos. I keep this turned off. Editing video takes a lot of computer resources and is even slower than photos. I tend to prefer an iPad app I have to edit videos versus the overly complicated Premier. Again, if you’re really into or need complex video editing, this program offers more than I believe most average users would ever need. However, for simpler video editing, there is much simpler and easier to use software/apps out there. The video editor is also subject to frequent freezing and occasional crashing. I have to recommend this product because like I said at the beginning, there is no competition or anything similar available. I just wish they would make some major improvements in both stability and ease of use.

The new Adobe Photoshop Elements 2023 & Premiere Elements 2023 is an affordable package of software for just about any skill level. Both have the primary functions of their ancestor versions, with some new features that allow you to do to your photos and videos what the folks with the expensive smartphones are able to do. Once you install both applications, both can be accessed from a dashboard of sorts. You don't have to uninstall previous versions, they are still there on the dashboard. Photoshop Elements 2023 incorporates the usual tools for image editing--including auto-enhancements and fun tweaks of several kinds that will give you some cool choices for how to alter your photos. Some photos that you may normally have deleted will now be something you can be glad you took the time with. I love the background blur, it really makes an ordinary photo stand out and look more "professional." There are buttons at the start of each file project that allow you to choose to be walked through the edits or go straight to the "expert" features that Photoshop has had all along. There is something for everyone. You literally can learn photo editing with the guided functions. Premiere Elements 2023 is not a big difference than the last version but it has an export routine for your edited videos that allow you to upload it directly to one of your social media accounts, plus features like guided tutorials to actually teach you how to use the software. In my years of computing, it seems Adobe products have always been geared toward more skilled users, but in these newer versions they at least hand the inexperienced some tools to work up to a higher level. It's not just for videos from phones or cameras, you can create slideshows or animated presentations from pictures and other graphics and add sound files like parts of podcasts or popular songs. It seems all Adobe products seem to have a "learning curve" but the newer versions of these apps all have things a newbie can try and things that are fun to experiment with on the way to learning. For less than a hundred bucks you will have what you need no matter how well-rounded your experience and skill level are.

It is hard to imagine there is anything you can't do with your favorite photos or videos with the 2023 versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements. Those two iconic programs, which for years have been the gold standard in terms image manipulation and output, still constitute the Swiss Army Knife of the realm. If you have enough the skill, there is very little you cannot do, short of producing Hollywood style blockbuster. Which is not to say it's going to be easy. The sheer depth of each program would probably take years for a novice to fully learn and lots of the getting from point A to point B, even on what should be simple tasks, is lot less intuitive than I would like. But both programs offer beginner to expert levels of operation that should make it possible for even beginners to crank out finished photo prints, collages or simple videos without too much effort. And if you want to get deep in the weeds and control every tiny detail of every single element, Photoshop and Premiere excel there too. The number of options on almost every front are almost endless. It can be overwhelming. I mean who even thought of tools to make teeth whiter or to open closed eyes? But those are just two examples of kind of special detail-oriented tools provided in Photoshop. Fortunately, Adobe has provided lots of tutorials in both programs to walk you through the basics and get you used to the interface, which in itself can be quite intimidating, especially on the Premiere side. Videos are much more complex if you are trying do more than just upload a single unedited video clip to YouTube. Individuals clips must be edited, strung together in the right order, transistions (lots of animated options included) and music added (a nice selection included) along with title and ending screens. It can be very tedious and time consuming, even with a powerful program like Premiere. Just make sure your computer is up to the task. A powerful processor, lots of RAM and a decent video card are highly recommended, especially when editing video. Those who don't have a lot of patience may want to start out in the "Quick" mode, where everything is simplified to the maximum degree possible -- with the trade off being you don't have nearly as much control as in the "Guided" or "Expert" modes. In Premiere, that process includes helping you take the last step of exporting your final video masterpiece to your favorite social media platform. Tools to accomplish that are integrated right into the program so you don't have to save the file first, exit Premiere, and then go into YouTube, for example, to upload the video. Very convenient. In the end, you can't go wrong with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, assuming you need that much power and have the time and skill to learn how to use them to their best advantage
