I have always wanted a Alienware, and it has met all my expectations. The build has a very solid feel, not noisy, and after a couple hours of gaming, the laptop still feels nice and cool. Love this machine

Great Powerful Machine at a great price. Only thing is the weight. To heavy for carrying anywhere. Decent HD screen resolution.

I'm disappointed with bestbuy. I considered buying an open-box item, instead I bought a new one to avoid problems. It came scratched. For a 2000 dollars machine it is unacceptable. thank you.

The laptop far exceeds the standard. It's very fast. Did I say fast. When you start it up its instant. Playing games with no lag and the screen just pops. The sound that the little speakers make is better than anything coming from a laptop. It's heavy but worth it

Excellent Laptop for Gaming, General Use

Very good laptop for almost everything you need. 1070 at 1920x1080 gives this laptop A+ at holding virtually all newer games at Ultra or Extreme Mode with 90+fps. Fans do get loud when you start gaming but will balance out as you play on. Only 2 x USB so choose your items wisely or get a Usb c to usb 2.0/3.0 adapter. To unlock the full speed of this laptop it is recommended that you add a m.2 stick to the system and only use the 2.5 hard drive for music files, documents, pictures, etc.. 2 additional m.2 2280 ssd slots available for pcie or sata. and a 2242 slot is also available (although it can get quite expensive). I've added a intel 600p 512gb on a m.2 and installed all of my gaming in it and the load times are insane.

This thing is huge and heavy (~10 lbs). It is really a destop for home use instead of carrying it around as a laptop. The screen is decent and cooling fans could get a bit loud under heavy load. With the 6th gen i7, nVidia 1070 8GB Ram, and 16 GB Ram, I think it will last for few years! Wish it came in with a SSD instead of 1TB hard drive... Dell System Detect is good and has good features. It helps to find all the drivers and software for the computer, and the Operating System Recovery Image that is very helpful for a clean installation of the OS (if you don't want the pre-installed programs such as Office).

I was on the fence whether to purchase from Dell or in store at Best Buy, decided I didn't want to play tag with UPS since you have to sign for it if you buy from Dell. I got it home and plugged in the warranty information my machine was just shipped from factory on 10/15/16. Runs like a beast idles around 28c and after stress testing cpu tops out at around 63c. To answer some of the questions I saw people leave on other reviews: yes you can adjust the backlight color to anything you want, its controlled via preinstalled software. Tobii is included to an extent, it will recognize you to log in and dim/wake the computer if you leave and then return to conserve battery power. I haven't played any games to see if the eye tracking feature works or not, sorry. The screen panel is 1920x1080 60mhz, I haven't really noticed any major bleeding that or it doesn't bother me as much as other people. Comes with 1 128gb ssd and 1 tb hdd with two more m2 slots located under the back panel that can have more storage added. There is only 1 hdd slot where the 1tb hdd is installed. Overall quite happy with my purchase with a 1070 card at FHD it will last me quite a few years since I like mainly older titles for the most part. 1 yr warranty included and I got 18 months interest free with the best buy visa to make it affordable.

Amazing laptop with desktop performance, graphics render amazingily and games run smoothly. Very quiet and happy with all its functions. it has become my replacement from my prior laptop and stationary desktop. once computer does it all and couldn't be happier. Would highly recommend this alienware over others on the market. Note very sturdy build but comes with the cost of the weight, however that is no impedence for me and have no issues with that knowing its not going to be damanged when transporting.

Alienware is known for being one of the best in the industry and this laptop delivers on that promise! I've put it through it's paces and performance has been nothing short of outstanding! I've used it for VR and the GTX 1070 that it comes with holds up well! The laptop does overheat or get very loud. Display looks great and the speakers sound amazing! It only comes with 2x USB 3.0 ports and no SD Card slot. That's the only downfall, I guess :(

This is my 1st Alienware product and my main reason for purchasing this was to run an HTC Vive and the second reason was to replace an aging Macbook Pro (2013). Needless to say, this handles the VIVE without any issues (GTX-1070) and it runs every PC game I've tried at full settings. Gaming tends to kick the fans on, other than that, fairly quiet Laptop. The thing is BIG and HEAVY. I'll lay in bed with this thing sitting on a cushioned laptop base and after an hour or so, the weight really digs in and I have to shift every so often. You can customize the many LED lights on this thing to to pretty much every color (except white). Build quality seems rock solid and the speakers are the best I've heard on a laptop. So far, no complaints and no regrets.

Big improvements over the previous generation

I have tried the previous generation and the newer one here, and i can assure you that this laptop is better than the previous one for the following reasons: Pro: * Less Noise * Better Cooling * It's using a Desktop GPU (Hugh Advantage) * Better Sound Quality (Very enjoyable, I played Diablo 3 and it was amazing) Con: * Heavy (Which to me seems fair with all this power) * CPU (I wish we had the option to include Desktop CPU for more power, to be fair you don't need the extra CPU power for the games but I want to use it for more than games) * Noise (still not as quite as it should be with light use If I am surfing the web or writing a document I simply don't want to hear anything AT ALL which a lot of CHEAP laptops deliver) * IPS (Backlight bleed as all the IPS panel do, I expect the industry to stop using this panel if they failed to fix the Backlight Bleed issue) Let me add in case you didn't know this issue come with all the IPS panels I have purchased the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q 34" which suppose to be the best monitor money can buy and it does have the Backlight Bleed issue and I may return it for that! Note: Even that I gave it 4/5 stars I still think it's almost the best laptop compare to other gaming laptops so if you are not willing to build a gaming PC and must have a gaming laptop this is the one for you .. lastly you may wish to buy the customize version for extra juice.

    Very Solid Laptop

Great laptop and very powerful! The only drawback so far is that the click buttons on the finger pad don't function very well (you have to find that "magic" position to get them to work, especially the left one, and when it does it then tends to "stick" causing it to function as if the button was clicked and held.) So for example when you click the button to delete something (like email) and it doesn't work you have to move your finger around to find that perfect spot. Then when it does work you end up deleting several emails at once. Very frustrating if you're doing any drag-n-drop type functions. I get around this by not using the finger pad and using a mouse instead - but that kind of defeats the "lap" portion of laptop if you need a wider surface area in order to use the mouse (although the area next to the fingerpad is almost large enough to functions as a mouse pad). Also, due to being Alienware in general and a very sturdy, durable laptop expect it to be heavier than a normal one with the larger cooling fans. But the processing FLYS if you're doing gaming or 3D graphics. Sound quality is superb even without earbuds. If it weren't for the finger pad I would have rated this 5 stars. Hopefully it's nothing more than dirt or some grit under the buttons. The rest of the key pads work great and have a very solid feel to them.

    Best laptop I've ever owned

I read dozens of reviews for this laptop before buying it and I also watched reviews on YouTube. Most people felt the same. It is heavy but this one stays at home. I did upgrade the RAM to 32 GB (Patriot/Viper DDR4) and also upgraded the SSD from 128 GB to a Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500 GB SSD (around $220 for both). I did this because I'm going to use this laptop for video editing 4K video and I'm definitely going to need the power and the speed. I am really impressed with the speed and how quiet it is. I don't even really know it's running except for the cool, customizable light show going on with the keyboard, front and side screens. And when the laptop is resting on my thighs, there is barely any heat coming from the machine. Finally, I had a 10% discount that I used to buy this machine and that took the price down after taxes to $1,700 so I was pretty pleased with that. I bought the 3-year, Geek Squad tech support warranty because I've always had to get a laptop fixed or tuned up or have a virus removed and I find the Geek Squad warranty to be reasonably priced and it gives me piece of mind because I am not a tech-head (although I did replace the RAM and SSD myself but that was easy). Hope that helps the next buyer.
