First monitor to ever give me that WOW factor
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ever since i stared building pcs, in 2016, ive been chasing the best image quality. I started gaming on a 1080 tv, then a 4K TV/1080 laptop monitor, then a 2K ultrawide, then a 4K curved VA. No matter how much I upgraded the pc and improved the performance, i always found the image quality to be lacking. Dont get me wrong, ive seen some beautiful screenshots, and amazing performance, but i always felt the colors looked washed out on some monitors compared to others and would sometimes see a ghosting effect, which i pretty much accepted as normal. Then along came OLEDs. I joined a pc group and it made me hungry for more. I ended up trading my crappy 5800x/4070ti build and a 3060 laptop for a 7900x/7900 xtx build that came with an “LG OLED” monitor. The pc checked out but the LG was a 32 inch 2K curved VA. I was beyond devastated. Then the Pc group members would not shut up about this monitor. Im cheap and thought my wife would kill me so i avoided buying this monitor. I ended up renting a samsung 65inch s90c OLED to get a feel for the tech and it absolutely blew me away. I instantly sold my va monitor, however the tv was way too big to be used in a normal desk setting. My family and rommates moved to a bigger house and i got more space so i hung the tv on the wall to use as a tv and needed a new monitor. I had a super old asus rog strix monitor but i realized it didnt even have hdr10 or freesync and it just paled in comparison to the OLED tv. I bought the bugdet AOC curved monitor with the specs i required but the ghosting was SO bad. Tbf i may have not calibrated it properly but it was horrible even compared to the LG i just sold. I returned it and started doing research and ordered two more monitors but canceled after i realized i wasnt getting 1000 nits with an IPS/VA under the price of this monitor and it was super cheap for black friday/cyber monday so i pulled the trigger. Its absolute EVERYTHING i wanted in a monitor. Colors POP off the screen, no ghosting or pixel to be found, it was curved and not a VA. The ultrawide format is a little iffy, but almost all games support it and the ui on the edges of the screen make it so immersive! The few games that dont have it can be modded but takes a bit of time so there is that. If you are like me and are constantly chasing the best image quality, this monitor is a MUST have. Ive spent alot of money of top end components to get the best performance, but i think i may have been happy with even a mid range setup and this monitor. So if you dont think its worth spending big money on your monitor, think again. If your budget is slim and you are thinking of getting the best of the best gpu and a terrible monitor, you will regret it. So if you have any hesitation about this monitor blowing you away then i can safely say you can toss then out the window, and remember, hesitation is defeat.

Best gaming monitor. Period.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best OLED gaming monitor hands down. Perfect blacks, vibrant colors, great build quality. I picked this over the LG 27gr95qe-b for several reasons. -You basically get 2 screens worth of display for the same price. -I play single player games so 165hz is plenty (if u play FPS , sure the LG w/ 240hz 0.03ms is unbeatable). - More immersion from ultrawide + curved Cons: -The settings joystick didn't work at first , but Best Buy let me switch it out for a new one - no hassle. - Text fringing due to the sub pixel layout - but honestly I have to put my face way close to even notice it - doesn't bother me

Beast Monitor
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not going to lie... This monitor is HANDS DOWN, the best monitor I've ever owned. Hertz: Going from 100hz to 165hz is literally life changing and especially on my first widescreen. Response time: I've never snapped on people and had my bullets feel like they actually hit on time before this monitor. Graphics: SOLID! Might have to change the coloring on each game depending how bright you want your colors, but you can't get more realistic graphics than with this monitor. Awesome for those who want to watch movies in the best quality. Widescreen: I was hesitant on gaming on the widescreen at first. All I can say is, if you're a gamer, it's A MUST! I have my monitor on a desk mount and holds up great with its size. Price: Obviously, no one wants to drop $700+ on a monitor, BUT I'm glad I invested in one that was actually worth it. This monitor is definitely worth it.

SAVE MONEY, READ THIS BEFORE BUYING
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, hands down if your in the market for a OLED monitor this is the model to get. Several companies all use this exact screen, but the Alienware AW3423DWF is the QD-OLED you want. Now heres how to save you money if your not constantly buying PC tech etc. 1)DO NOT buy this monitor for anything above $799! ($799 is what the regular sale price is for this model. What that means is every two weeks or so Bestbuy will say they are having a sale and this monitor will be $799. Then they raise the price back up to $999. It has switched back and forth 3 times in the last 2 months just to give you an idea. So only buy this when its at the $799 price point. 2) This monitor absolutely supports Nvidia GSYNC. Do NOT pay an extra $150 just to buy the Alienware "Nvidia premium" model. Not only does your Nvidia graphics card work with the "AMD PREMIUM" model, it supports the NVIDIA features such a GSYNC, etc. I saw a salesman tell a older guy he needed to order the nvidia branded version of this monitor in order for it to work with his computer which is 100% a lie. Buy this model AW3423DWF, its over $100 cheaper, supports Gsync etc., and it allows you to upgrade its firmware which the other version does not for some reason. Hope that helps some of you who aren't used to constantly upgrading and building computers.

WOLED vs QD-OLED trade blows. Buy the right 1 4U!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great monitor! For $650-$799, it is the best choice in the market currently (May 2024). I also use a 42" C2 WOLED as a PC monitor, and the colors on QD-OLED are noticeably more vibrant. However, it does have an issue of producing raised blacks when light is shining directly on, or near the monitor. So QD-OLED and WOLED trade blows overall. But due to the limited availability of WOLED in this form factor and price range, I think this is a great option if you can control the lighting in your room. If you are using the monitor in a bright room, I would definitely go with a WOLED panel, either the 42 C2/C3 if you can fit that in your space, or possibly consider spending more money on a WOLED panel in a smaller form factor, by LG. If your office/space is within a dark room, go QD-OLED if you would like more vibrant colors. But there are basically no options at the sub $1000 price point other than this monitor, the Samsung G8 (which is the same panel but no 3 year warranty). Overall I am satisfied and I do recommend this monitor, just know which type of OLED panel would be the best option for your space!

Buyers Remorse at first, quickly changed
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been very hesitant on purchasing this monitor, and finally pulled the trigger on a black friday sale. I got it for 730 and some change on a open box excellent status. I was feeling a lot of instant buyers remorse as soon as i got it. Then i plugged it in, and my god did all of that melt away. THis is by far the most beautiful display I have ever laid my eyes on. Absolutely worth the price- especially if you can get it below the 1100 dollar price tag. I believe i got it at a steal for under 800. If you are on the fence, let this be your message to go forward with it- you definitely wont be sorry.

4k Gaming Alienware
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If youre looking at this monitor BUY IT! It has absolutely beautiful 4k picture, and its the perfect size for your desk not small but not overly massive! I went through this and the Samsung Odyssey monitors. Had both for 1 year each. The alienware has by far in my opinion out done that monitor and for cheaper!! Definitely the best buy for my PC build!

Solid QD-OLED
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great monitor! It’s a refresh of the DW model. This also supports G-Sync. If you’re looking for a solid QD-OLED monitor, look no further. If it’s on sale with open box excellent condition? In women logic, you would be losing money by not getting it.

Strikingly Vibrant Display for Gamers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.INTRO Prior to this review, I have owned the AW3423DW variant of this monitor for roughly 8 months. The Alienware AW3423DWF is the newer, FreeSync-focused variant of the 2 ultrawide QD-OLED monitors that Alienware launched in 2022. While it forgoes G-SYNC Ultimate certification in favor of FreeSync Premium Pro and G-SYNC compatibility, it adds support for user-serviceable firmware updates via USB, adds an additional DisplayPort 1.4 input, and a console mode that accepts a 4k60Hz signal over HDMI and uses a 16:9 aspect ratio. Aside from that, the DWF model supports 165Hz refresh rate down from the 175Hz from the DW model and it comes in the “Dark Side of the Moon” color which removes the RGB ring on the back in favor of lighting up the number 34 on the back. UNBOXING & INITIAL SETUP The unboxing and setup process is honestly very straightforward. The monitor arrived well-packaged with good protection for both the display, the chassis, and the components of the stand. For accessories, you’ll find a standard DisplayPort 1.4 cable, a Type-C to DisplayPort cable, and a USB 3.2 gen 1 cable to perform firmware updates and also to serve as the connection for the 4x USB 3.2 gen 1 Type-A inputs on the monitor. With no external tools required, all you need to do is take the base and the stem of the stand and connect them together with a thumbscrew. Then attach that to the back of the monitor while it’s face-down on a stable surface with the protective material still applied. However, if you’re going to VESA mount (which I chose to do), then there are screws pre-installed on the back which you can simply remove via phillips screwdriver and re-install with your mount of choice. BUILD & ADJUSTMENTS The build quality is a standout aspect of this Alienware monitor. Without the stand, it weighs in at 13.8 lbs which is reasonable for most ultrawide monitors. But more importantly, the plastic is sturdy, the RGB lighting is consistent, and the control joystick on the bottom of the display is intuitive to use compared to a lot of other OSD adjustment controls I’ve used across other monitors. If you intend to use the stand, it’s a pretty good stand. You have height adjustment, vertical tilting, and 20 degrees of swivel, but zero rotation. So you won’t be able to rotate into portrait mode with the included stand, but I think that’s expected for a monitor designed for gaming. ON-SCREEN CONTROLS / OPTIONS For the OSD menu, Alienware opted not to inundate users with too many confusing options, and I honestly appreciate that. Gamers want to set up quickly without having to spend too much time navigating complex menus to get the most out of their monitor. The simplified quick menu gives access to your presets, a dark stabilizer, an input selector, brightness/contrast adjustments, and “AlienVision” effects. The advanced menu adds settings for game-related functions such as the Console Mode and a Frame Rate counter, as well as AlienFX Lighting options, and advanced Display calibration options that also include HDR settings and PIP/PBP. DISPLAY In the box, Alienware includes their calibration tests for the monitor. They know that gamers are paying a premium for this product, and I think it’s the right call to give that extra assurance that their monitor has been properly inspected and calibrated from the factory. And if you’re concerned about OLED burn-in, Alienware is going as far as providing a 3-year Advanced Exchange Service so that if a replacement becomes necessary, it will be shipped to you the next business day during your 3-year Limited Hardware Warranty. The QD-OLED display itself is vibrant & punchy. Thanks to the incredible contrast of having individually lit pixels instead of a backlight panel, when a pixel is black, it is deeply black, and it’s strikingly noticeable for games and movies. If you’re a gamer, I think you’ll find that playing games on the AW3423DWF will bring new life to any experience. From 2D indie titles to 3D AAA games, I haven’t found a single game that hasn’t looked better on the QD-OLED display. And if your game has good support for HDR, the QD-OLED display will do a fantastic job at keeping darker elements more dimly lit while brighter elements will be more accurately lit without being crushed or washed out. And in my opinion, having this in tandem with a 165Hz refresh rate makes this Alienware monitor among the best for games that deliver fast action and need quick response times. Whether you play competitive games or even indie titles that just need you to react quickly, this display has low response times that will be excellent for those demanding immersion and fast action. On top of that, the display has FreeSync Premium Pro and G-SYNC Compatibility, so as long as you have a compatible GPU, you’ll be able to reduce frame stutters in games where the frame rate can’t lock to the display’s native refresh rate. One caveat to mention is that because of the triangular subpixel layout, text may not perceptibly be as sharp as some other monitors, but using a free tool like Better ClearType Tuner for Windows can lead substantially better results. That being said, not everyone is sensitive to this kind of thing, and I personally did not find this aspect to affect my day-to-day use. And for context, I am a professional software developer, and so I spend a lot of time looking at text throughout the workweek. As someone who has used 6+ ultrawide monitors for both work and play, I still feel that this Alienware has been the best experience I’ve had for both use-cases. CONCLUSION The Alienware AW3423DWF is an excellent option for those looking for an ultrawide monitor for gaming. My experience with both variants of the monitor have been positive, but the more affordable pricing of the DWF model in conjunction with its additional features make it more appealing to me than the G-SYNC Ultimate variant. So if you’re looking for a top-tier ultrawide monitor for gaming and productivity, I really think that the Alienware AW3423DWF should be at the top of your list of considerations. It delivers a number of improvements upon the original, while also being less expensive.

A Perfect* Monitor.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: It pretty much the perfect monitor. Perfect blacks, insane HDR performance, perfect motion handling, super immersive 21:9 screen ratio, incredible colors, and all for a great price. The only negative is the text fringing because of the subpixel layout. Makes text not as clear. However after a week or two of use I don't really notice it that much anymore. A Little History: I've been PC gaming for over a decade now. I swapped over to PC from PlayStation in 2012. I didn't have a monitor at first and used an old LG 32 inch 720p TV for my first monitor. Since then I have been through many different monitors with different resolutions, refresh rates, and panel technologies. My first monitor was a 24 inch 1080p 60hz TN ASUS monitor. Then I upgraded to a 1080p 144hz TN Acer monitor. After the Acer I wanted to upgrade to 1440p, so I did. I got a 1440p 165hz TN Dell monitor. A bit after that IPS was getting better with response times and I got myself an LG 1440p 144hz IPS monitor. A couple years after that I ended up winning a RTX 4090 in a giveaway and I wanted to try 4K. I ended up going with Gigabyte M32UC. It was 4K 144hz curved Fast VA monitor. The reason I went from IPS to VA was that the VA version was a little cheaper and I wanted deeper blacks. I definitely got that from the M32UC and I loved that monitor. The reason I bring all these past monitors up is to show you I have been around the park on all the technologies. I have used it all and not a single one of them is even close to this OLED monitor. The Right Price: When I bought the Gigabyte VA monitor a couple years ago, I had been wanting an OLED for awhile. The prices for OLED was just a bit too much out of my price range. Always hovering around or above the $1000 mark. My personal budget for monitor is around $600. For the past few months I had been eyeing the 27GR95QE-B on Amazon refurbished for $699. It was $100 over my budget, but it was really tempting. My buddy got one and loved it, but alas I held off on purchase. I am glad I did, because a few months later I saw this monitor available open-box in excellent condition for $650 and finally bit the bullet and order it. The Perfection of OLED: It arrived fairly quick, quicker than what it said it would. I got it in a couple of days and immediately set it up once I returned home from work. It came in the original box fully packaged and the monitor looked practically new. When I turned it on I immediately opened Chrome went to YouTube. I turned on HDR and did the Windows calibration and watched the LG OLED True Black video on there. I was completely floored. The highlights were so bright, but not overly bright and losing detail. The blacks were completely black. The colors were so rich, vibrant, and full. It was perfect. I decided to boot up some games to check out the near instant pixel response times and to check out the ultrawide aspect of it. Battlefield V, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring (Downloaded a mod to make it compatible with the ultrawide aspect ratio) and a few others. Again I was floored. The extra pixels you get on the sides just make every game feel so immersive and the motion was so clear. No blur when moving around the mouse or joystick. It was clear. I'm Closing: I finally knew what HDR was supposed to look like and why people rave about it. I finally got experience perfect blacks, no IPS glow or backlight inconsistencies. I finally had perfect motion, no VA black smearing and motion blur. I finally had the richest colors, no more dull TN colors. Then I finally had an ultrawide for that super immersive gaming experience (also great for movies since movies fill the aspect ratio perfectly). I love this monitor and highly recommend it.

An amazing monitor
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the best monitors ive ever owned and ive tried alot the only monitors that I believe come close are the lg ultragear oleds but i don’t believe they are curved or any of them come in ultrawide. Compared to other QD-Oled monitors this one tops it off with a good refreshrate and price when compared to other monitors with similar specs.

Amazing monitor!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful monitor! Very wide, but most games support the ultra wide so it just enhances my ability to game. The colors are unreal! Sometimes I wonder if my screen is even on. The refresh rate is all I need for my 2k gaming, and all the games just look beautiful. Movies aren’t too bad, but it all depends on the service you use. Overall, great monitor and great entry level OLED for the price with ultrawide!

It’s ok
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Monitor is nice this is my first oled. Not a fan of the menu or the software. It could be a little more intuitive. Maybe I’m just not using my monitor correctly but I don’t see the hype or where it really outshines a great ips panel. The system text on the screen and how it looks pixelated has taken some getting used to. Good for gaming but if you game 30% of the time and do other tasks 70% white looks gray to me on this panel. It’s nice during gaming but not to where I notice a major difference over my other monitors in the past. I will keep for now bc I got a great deal on it and it does outperform other monitors within the price range paid but Im not sure I’m going to go Oled for my next monitor

Excellent option for 2k UW
|Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor is an excellent choice for an oled display that also offers an UW aspect ratio. The 165hz refresh rate is nice and smooth, not much different from similar resolution monitors at 240hz. The response time and colors are fantastic and the care settings for the display also set me at ease since I usually spend most of my time playing MMOs. There's also Alienware's warranty to consider as well. For the price, and compared to other monitors in a similar price point, you'd do well to at least consider this powerhouse of a monitor.
