Good, but not a value competitor
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good panel with deep blacks and vibrant colors. Sadly, its the exact same panel as the Phillips Evnia which is $300 cheaper. So yeah, go with the phillips.

Great picture, horrible overall experience
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love this monitor. I picked it up at a good price on Black Friday deals, took it home and used it for a good two weeks. Today it stopped turning on at all, so it's getting returned. The OLED panels have gotten a lot of hype, some of it deserved and a lot of it overblown in my opinion. Where this monitor really stands out is the clarity of image and the smoothness of motion. The 'inky blacks' that OLEDs are known for aren't as 'inky' as people make them out to be. My IPS monitor looks 90% as good as the OLED does - where the difference comes into play is the backlight bleed. The IPS panel backlight is noticeable and that definitely can reduce contract. With some minor tweaking, that's almost un-noticable however. Pros: Crispy sharp image. The per-pixel control makes lines and differentiation between colors and textures really stand out. No backlight bleed. No color bleed. motion handling is superb - literally no ghosting or panel lag at all. Games in HDR look superb and crispy. Cons: The whole thing is fiddly. The panel feels light and cheap. Very limited connectors - 1xDisplayPort, 2 HDMI, 2 USB. The glossy screen picks up fingerprints from a distance and they are super notable and not easy to clean. Very reflective - don't have a bright light source near if you don't want to see everything behind and around you. HDR is a hit or miss prospect. You'll spend a lot of time switching back and forth to HDR/SDR, waiting for the panel to resume, and then back again. Sometimes the panel just won't change out of HDR mode. When in HDR mode, you can't change from say Cinema mode to RPG mode, etc. to shift the colors. You have to exit, change, go back into HDR. My other HDR monitor has no issues doing this in HDR mode. OSD is a little clunky w/ the nipple button under the display dead center. Text weirdness from the subpixel layout was not as bad as I expected - it took me about a day to get used to the text , which was better after running ClearType a couple of times. Much worse when using dark mode - white letters on a black BG have a weirdness to them that makes it hard to look at. When hooked up to my system with another monitor (I run three screens) , changing HDR or any mode would cause the other panel to change as well. I have each set for HDR individually (tho both are HDR capable as well) and half the time my second panel just would not recover from it. I don't have this happen ever with my AW38. The overall feeling after using this for two solid weeks is that it is a gorgeous panel, very crisp and fast, and has great colors - but - it's still very young tech, including the driver support and HDR support - and unless you're using your PC primarily as a gaming pc, I'd wait on this panel. I was waffling on keeping it simply bc of the clarity and motion handling, but I went to turn it on this morning and it's dead. No power, nothing. That pretty much seals the deal for me. I'm going to stick with my reliable and very pretty IPS panel and wait for this tech to mature. Background: I've been an IT tech and PC builder/enthusiast and professional for nearly 30 years.

Great monitor but
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great for gaming, only reason for 2 stars is recently discovered what I thought was just stubborn dust the first two months of owning it, was actually not and more like a chip. Very small but I didn’t bother trying to rub it off because I didn’t want to scratch the screen up. Figured okay two months is too long now, so I’ll clean it up. Wasn’t budging so grabbed my phone and used the macro setting and was extremely disappointed with what I saw, especially given that I baby my electronics. One photo of it really up close And a second photo showing how yeah it’s really out of sight and doesn’t seem like anything’s there hence why I brushed it off as a dust spot, but now that I know it’s there. I can’t unsee it

Faulty by design color looks fantastic
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Look this isnt there yet. Having to refresh the panel once every 4 hours of use is such a chore. Really takes away from the whole experience. Imagine logging on to play a game and this messege pops up telling you to let the monitor refresh for 10minutes. Sure you dont have to do it but now its in the back of your head.

Inconsistent and Frustrating
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly? I'm not impressed. When I first unpacked the monitor and plugged it in, my first thought was "wow this is gorgeous" after having used standard 1080p monitors all my life. It truly does have excellent build quality and the image looks colorful and premium. However after spending some time with it, this thing gives me more trouble than those cheap $99+ displays and I'm tempted to go back. 1st issue: Random lines through screen. Some days the monitor has what I can only describe as static lines that appear as a flash every few minutes. Turning it off and on seems to fix this. 2nd issue: Random blackouts. The screen goes black and recovers after about 4 seconds. This, again, stops if I turn off/on. In combination with the static lines, it starts to get really annoying. LITERALLY AS I'M TYPING THIS, IT BLACKED OUT AGAIN. Note: I can't emphasize how weird these display issues are. Some days it runs perfectly fine with the same cables, etc. Some days it just does not want to perform. 3rd issue: Super picky about cables. I had to go through my collection ofHDMI cables to find ones that worked consistently. I received "no signal" issues and the cables it came with didn't work either. For context, I'm connecting this monitor to an Alienware x14R2 laptop (LOL it should work flawless with the same brand of computer, right?) and a macbook air m3. Both of these relatively new devices gave me problems. Both worked flawlessly with my cheap 1080p monitors. 4th issue: Pixel refresh, although necessary for OLED burn in, is disruptive. A prompt requires that you perform this every few hours which means you stop using the monitor for 4 minutes while it gets rid of burn in risk. You can turn this off if you're brave, however, it still asks this EVERY TIME I turn the monitor off via the power button.. I understand it's important, but please just shut down and execute without prompting me every time. 5th issue: For this price, I expected a better UI for the settings menu or a remote. I noticed at one point when I was having signal issues, It locked me out of the menus altogether until signal was restored. Weird. 6th issue: Audio capabilities are confusing. It seems like it would have built in speakers, but it doesn't. Just a duplicative audio jack at the bottom of the screen (I will never use this because most computing devices have their own jacks). 7th issue: Updating the firmware to the most recent version did nothing to improve the experience. Shame. In summary, I can see why this was on sale. I know this may come across as harsh but I use this monitor DAILY for work and play, so these little annoyances show themselves quickly. It seems like a great idea on paper but poor execution. I may contact Alienware and request a replacement because surely this isn't a normal experience.

Black Screen Issue
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had issues with this monitor, unfortunately. The good thing is that the display was AMAZING and so smooth. I was using it with a MacBook Pro and Mac mini, but I kept having issues with it going black randomly. I tried different cables, different ports, and it still went black at the most random times. Since I'm in a lot of virtual meetings, I found it extremely frustrating to deal with. Also, I understand the need for a pixel refresh since it is an OLED display, but I found it to be annoying since it takes about 10 minutes to complete. When I was in the middle of working, having the pixel refresh randomly pop up was also frustrating. But the feature can be disabled if it gets in the way too much. Overall, I'd say this monitor is probably fine for gaming, but not really going to cut it for productivity/working 8 hours a day. I ended up returning it and going for a Samsung monitor that wasn't OLED so that I didn't have to worry about burn-in and the random blackouts.

Got an open box dud
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to snag this for a really good open box price, but that's where the excitement ended. The monitor kept giving over heating error messages, the RGB lights were not working at all. and their were buble wrap marks on the screen itself which were impossible to clean off. Ended up returning the monitor.

Not good for Productivity or Mixed use.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned this Monitor after a day. QD-OLED sub-pixel layout may be great for Media but Text is utter garbage. If you plan on using this for work and play, look somewhere else. The color fringing on text is headache inducing. I don't know what all the hype is about here. I wouldn't be so critical if this was a TV but this is for PC. Went with the LG Ultragear 45" W-OLED and THAT thing is AMAZING.

99 Hz max refresh rate
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful monitor but no matter what I did (and I tried everything) the refresh rate was capped at 99 Hz. That was an obvious deal breaker for me. After returning it, I had no problem reaching 200+ Hz on my old monitor, which confirmed the Alienware was the issue since I was using the same cable and everything.

NOT suitable for Office Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately I returned this. Why? QD-OLED looks fantastic but to avoid screen burn-in you 1) can't fill your desktop with icons 2) need to auto-hide taskbar 3) should not use brightly colored wallpaper 4) it takes a 10 minute "pixel refresh" break every 4 hours which turns off screen (it'll wait for monitor to be in standby, but say you answer your phone and it goes into standby, then you need to look something up for the customer but you have to wait 10 minutes for the refresh to finish). It is a gorgeous screen and gamers will love it, but its not a general use monitor and it is BIG! It's stand is very stable, but that's because it is a huge stand. My desk is 24" deep and with monitor slid to back edge the center of screen was in middle of desk leaving only a foot in front for my keyboard and other items.
