Precise Gamer Mouse
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The choice to be able to choose wired or wireless is excellent. Battery life is very long and there seems to be no difference in performance using it wireless. An interesting caveat is you can use it wireless with the receiving dongle plugged into the cord using an included adapter. That way, if the battery would go low, you can quickly remove the adapter and plug the cord right into the mouse without having to reach behind your computer to make changes with the cord and the receiving dongle. The included cord is covered with fabric to make it super smooth, really flexible, and nice looking. I had no trouble getting the mini usb cable plugged into the deep recess of the mouse. It actually fits tight and is well protected with the design. The available color changes made possible by the software will have you trying so many choices that you will soon become overwhelmed with the possibilities (a good thing). The software also allows you to set up Macros, several user settings for DPI, and to calibrate your mouse. The mouse has 5 presets for DPI settings that can be cycled through using the button below the scroll wheel. The factory defaults are, 800, 1800, 3500, 9000 and 16,000. The maximum DPI setting of 16,000 is nice if you have a 4k monitor to navigate across but for HD resolution monitors its too sensitive to use for daily tasks. If you play games that require quick movements you would benefit from the 16,000 DPI setting. Cycling through 5 presets is probably not something you are going to do while gaming. As you cycle through the presets the color of the top stripe changes to tell you which preset you are on but if you are focused on the game you are not going to be looking at your mouse. It would be nice if you could reduce the presets to 2 or 3. This would make it easier to quickly switch to the preset you want. You can set one of the buttons to the "Sniper Mode" macro which will drop your DPI to the lowest preset you have configured. The scroll wheel is adjustable from 24 to 12 stops using the switch on the bottom of the mouse. 24 stops is nice for scrolling through long documents or web pages but if you use the scroll wheel to cycle through your weapons in games, it's too easy to overshoot your selection. Switching the wheel to 12 stops gives you better control while switching between weapons. The mouse feels good in your hand and the controls are well placed and responsive. One detail I noticed, was with your little finger on the side. The rear shelf provides good support for your thumb but it isn't long enough to fully support your little finger. This leads to pinky drag while using the mouse. The sides of the mouse aren't concave and don't have any grippy rubber that could help keep your pinky from dragging. I would like to see the "shelf" go more forward on the right side. Maybe not a problem for everyone, but something I noticed. Outside of a couple of small changes I would like to see addressed, it's a great mouse that I would recommend to a friend.

Not a very good mouse for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are a few issues with the mouse. First of all the RGB looks great while it works, but it sometimes shuts itself off until you restart the mouse. Secondly, the scroll wheel is very stiff, so scrolling through a long web page or Word document will kinda hurt your finger. Battery life is okay - at 100% it will lasts about a week, but charging speed is insanely slow as it takes about 5 hours for it to fully charged from 10%. Overall, for the price, it's not a good mouse. Unless you are digging the design of this mouse or a big fan of Alienware, I'd say look elsewhere as there are many good options at this price.

Highly worth it.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this mouse. Been using Logi wireless mice for years, had no idea how used to sub-par gaming performance I had become. Switching to the Alienware 610M mouse was definitely worth the money. Crisp responses across the board, no weird/frustrating, un-commanded screen scrolling, which has been a plague with all my Logi mice of late. The only, oh so very slight downsides are the need to keep it charged from time to time, and what _seems_ to be a hard-setting for mouse wheel scrolling of 12 or 24 lines. Charging the mouse requires use of the cable that comes with the mouse. I almost tossed it because I have a lot of USB cables. Glad I didn't, since the connector to the mouse is designed specifically for the charging/connection port. Cable is well made. As for the scrolling, I'm fine with the 12/24 options, don't see a need for anything beyond that - and there may be a way to adjust that in your respective OS settings. Can't say for sure. Overall, worth the money. Would definitely buy this again.

Overall
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice mouse, nice comfortable mouse to play or use while working on your pc. My only con is the fact that there is no way for the wheel to be less stiff. Would only recommend to have the set with the keyboard.

5 Stars, but not the best for gaming.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once again, alienware makes an amazing aesthetically pleasing product. I do find the 4 & 5 buttons hard to press at times, and if you use the middle button (scroll wheel button), it is hard to do without sliding it up or down. Regardless, I do love this mouse, for gaming however, I would go a different route. Mainly because you can feel a delay when using the wired vs wireless option and also it didn't feel like I had complete control of the mouse because it is a large. I do have larger hands and love this mouse for work, but for gaming, I would choose something else.

Fine, not great
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The shape takes a little getting used to. Probably easier for large hands. Scroll wheel is poor, slips frequently without registering the action.

It works great, build quality is acceptable, the deal killer for me was the scroll wheel...I prefer a smoother scroll.

Comfortable and Precise—Perfect for Gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My time with the AW610M has left me satisfied with its functionality. It's super precise and allows a range of DPI from 100 to 16,000. I don't need anything above 3,500-4,000, but if you want it, it's there. And its 1000 Hz polling rate ensures responsiveness for any kind of game genre. The mouse itself is ergonomic and feels very comfortable. It slides with ease and remains quiet. I've never liked disposable batteries, so the rechargeable battery is a big plus for me. And a 350-hour battery life is great. The dual-mode mouse wheel isn't quite necessary in my opinion, and the button on the bottom to change it to and from 12-line and 24-line is a little clunky. I put it on 24-line and don't expect to ever change it. However, I have noticed that when the mouse wheel is on 24-line, it sounds a little squeaky. The mouse also sports two macro buttons, though I haven't really used them. If you don't require lots of buttons (like me), this would work perfectly for you. I like the flashiness as well. There are four points on the mouse that emit LED lighting, one being the Alienware logo. Paired with the Alienware Command Center, you can customize the lighting, as well as the DPI settings, macros for the mouse wheel and two additional side buttons, and a few other smaller features. It goes well with my LED mouse pad! I bounce between using a controller and a mouse, depending on what game I'm playing, but I'm happy enough with the AW610M that I don't expect to change mice anytime soon. I do have to question the physical integrity of the mouse. I've had it for just over a week and already has two tiny chips in different places. I have no idea how it happened, especially since I take very good care of my belongings, and I haven't had a chance to use it extensively. My guess is that these were already there before I ever opened it, but the pieces hadn't yet chipped away. I hope that's the extent of the damage, but only time will tell. The fact this it happened—and I've never seen it before with any mouse—does affect the rating that I have given it.

||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a couple of months, the scroll wheel no longer works. Purchased several for work force and most of the Alienware Optical Gaming MICE have failed. If you are looking for a mouse to last more than six months, don't buy this mouse.

Good, could be better
