Loved this Kindle but Hubby wanted to trade it for an IPad mini to go with our other Apple products! :-(

I was on the fence between the Kindle and an iPad, but three things led to a choice that worked out great. First, the quality of the screen, build and processor are so good that there's no feeling of "settling" because I didn't go with Apple. Netflix video looks great, and the performance is sharp. Second, the Mayday feature gave my parents the reassurance that they wouldn't get stuck 5 minutes after I left. This is such a simple but powerful idea for people who might otherwise shelve their tablet with the first tech issue. Finally, the kindle platform has come a long way, making it an intuitive flavor of android for first time users to pock up. Setting email up was a breeze, and Skype out of the box was a pleasure. I had an original kindle that got old fast, but this generation has real daily-use utility. A great machine at the standard retail price, its an unbeatable value when it goes on sale. Last word - my in-laws got an iPad at the holidays, and I've spent a decent amount of time helping them with synch setups, icloud sharing, and why non-ios users don't have FaceTime. Its a great device, but ironically proving to have a steeper learning curve than the kindle HDX.

First, I really love the tablet. This kindle is the third kindle in my household. I currently own a e-reader kindle 3G wi-fi and a kindle fire HD. This one is for my husband. The display is crystal clear on a 7in screen, it really shines, the resolution and clarity are amazing. The speakers are full Dolby HD that have great bass and a nice clear sound. These speakers are better than most laptop speakers. They go loud enough to fill a room and do not lose any of the sound quality, the speakers are simply amazing, and the performance is outstanding for the price. is the best kindle to date. The performance is second to none, the display is great, the speakers are some of the best I've ever heard on a tablet, and the mayday feature is awesome! I think the price is right on the mark for what you get. It's a great value tablet and a great performing tablet all in one. One note of caution: The charging port is on an angle and if you're not careful, I could see this being an issue down the line. If you try to lay the HDX screen side down, you will bend and put stress on the charging cable.

    Amazing Tablet For The Price

Let me start off by saying. I've done a good deal of research before deciding which Tablet was for me. I've done the homework and done everything in my power to make sure that I got the very best tablet I could get for my money. That tablet for me was the Kindle Fire HDX (The 7 inch version). To make a long story short, The Kindle Fire HDX does every single thing that I'd ever want my tablet to do, and more. It does everything its competitors can do, At about half the price. And that's what makes this tablet so awesome. When you look at all the features it possesses you instantly assume that a machine with all of this MUST be at least Half A grand. But it's not. In fact I paid 199.99 for mine Brand New. For basically 200 dollars I got a tablet that will play Every video, Every song, Hold all my Ebooks and E-Mags, and Run all the apps that I'd ever want to. Its is also incredibly thin and light for a Tablet with so many features. Its got an amazingly beautiful Full HD Screen that looks FANTASTIC. The sound quality is also unbelievable. It's truly mind blowing how such good sound quality can be produced from such small speakers. But just like everything else that the Kindle Fire HDX does..It pulls it off..Perfectly. I highly recommend this tablet for just about every consumer out there today who are currently looking to find which tablet is best for them. This is the perfect option for people looking for a Good, Reliable, and Capable tablet without having to spend an Arm and a Leg to afford it...Bottom Line...Are there faster and more powerful Tablets available?? Yes. But unless you plan on taking out a 2nd mortgage to afford your new tablet. The Kindle Fire HDX offers the best mixture of Speed, Power, and Affordability that can be found on the market today.

Got this for Christmas specifically for reading and light web surfing. It is small, lightweight, and fast. Easy to read on, and has a great setting for reading in the dark so I don't disturb my husband. Love the whispersync and the professional narration as well.

I'm a gadget geek and usually adverse to items with "walled in" OS's. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm addicted to my Fire HDX 7. It is so snappy. I have never had any lag issues. With 2 WiFi radios, my internet connection is always solid. You are not limited to the Amazon marketplace; I have downloaded other app stores and have yet to not be able to use an app I want but isn't in the Amazon store. The only issue I have had is my screen has cracked 2 times in 4 months....in spite of the commercials showing they can take a beating. However, Amazon CS was quick to send a replacement with 2 day shipping, and includes free return shipping. They ship immediately without waiting for my return. I love this so much I hope to add the larger size HDX to my collection. Free cloud storage it's available to Prime members, along with thousands of free Movies and sounds. I love the ecosystem. Can't rave enough. Battery life lasts all day (10 hours average) with WiFi on. I have a Fintie case that puts device in sleep mode when cover is closed saving battery life. Plan on investing in a keyboard soon and it will be just as functional as my laptop. Love!

My first kindle was the original kindle fire. I loved it, used it over my smartphone, loved reading books and magazines on it. After a while I noticed there were some apps I could not get because of the os or processor, and eventually the device wouldn't charge. Time for an upgrade! The HDX is incredibly light and thin, the screen is stunning, noticeably sharper and colorful than the original fire and even better than my wife's kindle fire HD. The kid friendly app allows you to set which apps your child can use so there's no accidental purchasing or internet use by your child. The apps run extremely quickly, the reading pace indicators are a cool feature, downloads are fast, calender and contact apps are upgraded and seamlessly sync with my Gmail, cloud sync automatically puts my smartphone pics right on my HDX, and all social media apps work very well. While in WiFi I use the HDX over my galaxy smartphone. It's just easier to type and read on the larger screen and it just looks better. Honestly the HDX is very similar to the fire hd. The main differences I've seen are the HDX's improved screen color/resolution, and low pixel front facing screen, and the kids free time. I don't Skype so I don't see myself using the camera feature but if you're big on selfies and Skype, go for it. I have kids that love devices, I appreciate the screen and having the latest edition so it was worth the extra money for me to buy the HDX over last year's fire HD. If you don't care about those factors, save a hundred bucks and grab last year's fire HDX. Either way it's a fantastic tablet that you won't regret

My wife's iPad 2 stopped working and I wanted to get her a replacement. iPads were out of our comfort range in terms of price, and her iPad 2 was a bit heavy for her casual browsing and use. We looked at the iPad mini, but it was still a bit pricey. The Kindle Fire HDX 7 was well under $250 and it seemed to be a perfect fit. I'm glad we decided to take the plunge. My wife loves the size and weight of the Kindle, and it is perfect for her usual leisurely activities (Pinterest, web surfing, ebooks, etc.). It is small enough to slip in any purse and light enough to hold with one hand without fatigue. Despite the smaller screen, she far prefers the form factor of the Kindle to her iPad 2. The hardware is quite powerful. Even driving a 1920x1200 screen, the Kindle Fire HDX 7 packs enough punch to run most high-end games fluidly. Furthermore, the screen is very vibrant. The high resolution makes text and images appear crisp and colors are excellent. There are two main drawbacks. First, the Kindle line does not run standard Android, nor does it provide access to the standard Google Play store. This means you will be using Amazon's modified operating system, and many apps do not make their way over to Amazon's store (not a big deal in my wife's case). Second, The HDX line often has a thin "blue" tint at the very edge of the screen. This "flaw" is well documented online. Amazon claims this is a side effect of their backlight technology, which supposedly offers superior color reproduction. It probably won't bother most users, but perfectionists will find this distracting on white backgrounds. I noticed it almost immediately, but I don't know that my wife has even seen it. Overall , the Kindle Fire HDX 7 is an excellent tablet at a great price, provided you don't mind being limited to the Amazon ecosystem and the "blue border" doesn't bother you.

Purchased this to replace my Kindle Fire and was not disappointed. Screen quality is excellent! Very easy to use, good battery life, light weight, small size, fast! The only thing that would make it better is a front facing camera, and more varied apps.

My husband got fed up with his Kindle Fire periodically shutting down by itself or disconnecting from our Wi-Fi (a problem we had from the beginning) and decided to buy a new Kindle HDX. The HDX is so much better and was worth making the step up. He is partial to the Kindle brand over iPad or other tablets because of the great prices he gets on his Amazon ebook purchases.

Its about 6 months I purchased this tablet and have been very satisfied. It has an excellent screen quality and resolution and the performance is very good for a $180 tablet. I bought this for my daughter and she is very happy and never keeps it down. A fine product by Amazon just like other products like Fire TV. I often buy electronics from Best buy for their customer service and ease of return.

This tablet is great for grand-daughter. Signing up for Unlimited for $2.99 a month gives unlimited access to child appropriate apps that can be changed out regularly so that she always has new games to play. The tablet itself has fantastic resolution with vivid colors. This is a BUY in my opinion. It is complimentary to the IPads in the household giving access to a large library at Amazon.

Beautiful screen, it's image sharpness and color really just has to be seen to appreciate it's capabilities. Processing speed for streaming is great also. Some features I've had on other tablets like Wi-Fi auto off (sleeping) and notification LEDs for email and power are missing. There are a few common apps (like Youtube) that are not in the Amazon app store. Also, on the downside there's no rear camera, only a low res front for Skype. The 7" size is comfortable in the hand, has a non slip back and doesn't get heavy. If you're interested in graphic novels I would recommend to get the 32 or 64 GB version. I've noticed the file sizes are quite large and no memory card slot here. The Dolby sound is great for watching videos with kids. Great parental controls and one button product support are nice pluses. Overall, a great value even though it's missing some bells and whistles.

I bought my son a Kindle Fire HD a while back and he loved it, he used it so much that he literarily wore it out. I always make sure to get the Geek Squad Protection on items bought for my kids because you never know what will happen. So when we took it in to get serviced the store decided to just replace it which I thought was great, and we went looking at the new Kindle Fire HD which was a nice upgrade from the older model but then the sales associate told me about the new Kindle Fire HDX which was twice as good as the other unit, the picture was brighter, the processor was faster and had more storage space. So we went for it, great decision and because it has been such a great tablet I got one for my daughter as well. It's even better when you're an Amazon Prime member because it alerts me to what apps are downloaded and I can keep track of what they use it for as well.

This is my fourth Kindle Fire. I am on the fourth one not because it is not a quality product but due to my clumsiness, The Kindle FIre is easy to use and comes with lots of apps that I use on a regular basis. Really enjoy reading books and just going online. Is a handy size that can even be carried in my already crowded purse

Debated between this and Ipad mini and chose the Kindle Fire HDX because of the price. I am NOT disappointed. This thing is FAST and has GREAT screen resolution. The battery is long lasting. It is super light and thin. It can do so many things and it if you are just starting out with a tablet like I was, it is very intuitive. There are a zillion apps to choose from. Sure, there are a few from Google that are not on here, but there are so many more to choose from that it is probably possible to find a similar one. You won't be lacking or disappointed. Love it. Would recommend getting it to anyone.

I bought as a Christmas gift for my daughter and she completely loves it. This Fire HDX is perfect for her use. It is her first tablet and she has been thrilled with its performance, battery life, light weight and ease of use. For her, it has been intuitive to learn. She says he prefers it to my iPad because it is lighter and for her, easier to use and she loves the integration with Amazon that is built in to the android OS. For some that might be a con, but for her, it is a pro. I have played around a little with it as well, and I think it is a high quality for the price unit. I would consider possibly buying another, however, for me it would be the larger size HDX because I agree with her that it is a fine quality for the price tablet.
