Customers praise the Kindle Oasis's large screen size, ease of use, and waterproof design. Many appreciate its lightweight feel and the inclusion of page-turn buttons, as well as the adjustable backlight. However, some customers express concerns about the device's battery life and high price point. The Audible integration is also a frequently cited positive feature.

Huge upgrade from Paperwhite

This is a hige upgrade from my paperwhite. Although i enjoyed my paperwhite and it’s compact form factor, the 7inch screen is much more pleasant to read on. The PDF files are much more easier in the eyes and the weight of the oasis is noticeably lighter than my paperwhite. My only complaint about this kindle is the battery life. This device is almost perfect if only the battery life is longer. I fibd myself charging the device every 4 days and that’s on airplane mode with brightness set to ZERO. Bluetooth is off, auto brightness is off as well.

I was used to the Kindle 3rd gen(Kindle Keyboard) and when i first held the Oasis it felt very odd and uncomfortable and the metal back made it feel like it could slip and fall at any second. It does take time to get used to. The device is expensive for something that is not even a colored screen. However, my main reason was because it was a bigger screen and clearer ( besides there doesn't seem to be much upgrades between the Kindle Keyboard and the other ones) I find myself accidently touching the touchscreen more often than I would like ( but much less than when I 1st got it- a week or so ago). All in all it is a sleek and nice device, alittle pricey.

The new Oasis (Oasis 2?) is larger than the previous version: a seven inch display as compared to a six inch one. It feels slightly heavier than the first Oasis, but its weight is certainly not an issue for reading with it. The adaptable lighting works as advertised. Text is very crisp, as one would expect, and contrast is good. The aluminum back feels a little cold when I first take it, so I bought a cover and placed the Oasis in the cover so that it's more comfortable to hold.
I bought the 8 gb version, which is plenty of storage for my purposes. I have not tried audiobooks on my Oasis yet.
The only real con with this new Oasis is the battery life. The battery is actually smaller than the one in the Paperwhite, and so battery life is nowhere near as good as with the Paperwhite - and that's without using the audio function. That's not a big deal for me, as I rarely read outside (not in winter, anyway!) and so I'm usually near some electrical outlet.
Still, once I adjusted to the larger device/display, I grew to like this Oasis a lot. I can readily recommend it - unless you need very good battery life. Then look elsewhere.

I've owned a 2nd Gen Kindle for a long time, but have not used it much in the last year because the battery wouldn't make it through the day anymore. I heard about the trade-in deal (value of the Kindle AND 25% off any new Kindle purchase. I chose the Oasis for many reasons: the ability to go from paper view to backlit (great when I don't want to keep hubby awake while I read), waterproof (reading in the tub or at the pool is relaxing), and built in Audible (I'm a bibliophile that has to drive a lot!).
This purchase has not disappointed at all. I'm on it almost every day and just charged it for the first time since receiving it 35 days ago!!! True, I didn't have the wi-fi nor bluetooth running for most of the time, but I'm still impressed. And it's so light, it stays in my purse all the time so that if I encounter a "holding pattern" I can simply pick up my book.
And the employees that helped me with the trade-in at Best Buy were wonderful. I didn't have to worry about a thing. I am very, very happy with this purchase.

The size feels and looks like a real paperback book in the hands. Audibles works great. Took a few tries on the paring of devices. It may be just me but the lighting and contrast seems better on the first generation model. I also bought the new Nook Glowlight 3 and wish the kindle had that orange hue night reading tone like the new nook does. If you just read the new Nook is a better and cheaper option but if you read and enjoy audibles you will probably love this Kindle. I enjoy reading and listening at the same time and this is much easier on the eyes than a tablet.

I adore this kindle. I have owned voyage and paperwhite previously. And all the three; paperwhite, voyage and oasis 2017 are fantastic devices but the only two reasons i upgraded are bigger screen and waterproof. Though the screen size is little bigger than the previous models it does make quite a difference. Also oasis comes with 8gb or 32gb of memory. But otherwise i love paperwhite and voyage as well.

I wanted a Kindle because I was tired of draining my phones battery using the Kindle app on my phone. I did some research and found that this version had just been released. It's easy to use, the touch screen works well, and Audible option is perfect. My only wish is that I'd had gone for the cellular activity, but it was another $30 and I wasn't sure it would be worth it. For me, I'm always carpooling or trying to find books for lunch at work, but I have to find Wi-Fi to do that. Spend the extra money!

This is my 7th Kindle, according to my Amazon account, and I have read hundreds of books on my various Kindles through the years. When my previous Kindle mysteriously vanished at the beginning of a vacation trip I turned to Best Buy to get this Kindle as I could not think of having a vacation without reading many books. And I couldn't wait for an Amazon delivery.
This Kindle is rather square, unlike my previous (Voyager) model. But the ridge that accommodates the power plug and the page turn buttons is actually easier to hold than the previous flat backed design. Also the Voyager had places to squeeze on the frame to turn pages, but it worked rather poorly, so I used to swipe. I really like having the buttons. The Oasis allows you to select which button you want to use for page forward vs. reverse, and since I have small hands, I chose the lower button to go forward. The screen is amazingly clear, and I am definitely enjoying reading on this Kindle.

This is the absolute best e-reader you can buy, imo. It is light, easy to use one-handed, durable, waterproof, with a great display. However, it is insanely expensive for something only meant to display text. If you have money to blow, get one. If not, just read in the Kindle app on your phone or tablet with the blue-light filter enabled.

Good Kindle, but Battery Life Terrible

I purchased this for my wife - it's her 3rd kindle in about 10 years (she was on board from the beginning). She generally wears them out, which in the electronics world is hard to understand, but he uses it about 3-6 hours a day, and reads about 5-7 books a week.
She's always been extremely happy with the Kindle units. When her last one went on the fritz (charge connection issue after years of use), we looked at all of the new ones. She picked this one because of the sharpness of the display. It's heads above the other Kindles. However, like other reviewers have mentioned, the battery life is terrible. She was used to getting days out of her Kindle before. This one is good for about 10 hours before needing a charge. It's not that bad for an average user, but she reads so much that she usually keeps it tethered to an outlet. To her, she doesn't mind... minor nuissance. But it is a nitpick. I'm not sure if this display just uses more battery, or they put too small a battery in an effort to keep is so thin, but hopefully they will revise this in the future with a better battery.
Overall she loves it, but do understand the battery life issue before purchasing.

So this does cost a pretty penny. But waterproofing is what you pay for. The device itself, case and screen, are gorgeous though!

This is an improved version of the Kindle Oasis. I owned the previous model with the Merlot charging cover. When Amazon announced the newer edition that was water resistant and larger screen, I jumped at the opportunity.
I have owned almost all Kindle e-readers: the Paperwhite, Voyage, Fire, and the Oasis. This is my favorite because of how it is ergonomically better for my hand. It comes with a Graphite Aluminum body and does not require the cover to charge it. The battery is now encased in the Oasis itself and you can buy the cover separately. At the time I purchased it, there was an apparent recall on the covers and no one was selling it. The few that were available online were ridiculously overpriced. I found an Amazon Kiosk in a mall nearby and they had the cases. I purchased the Charcoal Fabric one because it was water-resistant (as is the Kindle itself).
What is another great selling feature is the addition of connecting your Kindle to a Bluetooth headset and can now listen to your Audible books. Also the 7 inch screen size is a welcomed addition and now rivals the Paperwhite in reading screen. I felt that the previous model was on the smaller side and it would slip out of my hand easily. I recommend getting either the case or a Tempered glass screen protector. I've noticed a small problem with the cases is the magnet on the Kindle is not as strong as the previous model. The case has a nasty tendency of just disconnecting from the Kindle. This was also true on the previous model. Amazon needs to improve this with either stronger magnets or more of them.
This is definitely the best e-book reader out there. It is on the costly side at $249.99.

I was worried about getting a Kindle in the beginning because I was a physical book type of reader. I literally hated reading on any device like my phone or tablet. But I can not say I absolutely love reading on my Kindle I find I have read so many more books this way and enjoy the ease of use for getting books and reading in a pinch! If your in the fence but a Kindle you won't regret it! That being said the Oasis is awesome easy to use, bright and waterproof to boot! You won't be disappointed.

I had an older Kindle but the screen was to small and dark, so I barely used it. I saw the Oasis with the 7 inch display and thought I might try it. It does feel a little odd and that it could slip and fall at any second. It does take getting used to, but the screen size and display are well worth it. The device is also a little expensive for something that does not have a colored screen. My main reason for buying it was because it had a bigger screen and clearer display. I do not really need the color display. It is a sleek and bright device with an easy to read 7 inch screen. I would recommend it though it is a little pricey for some people..

Really comfortable to hold, 7-inch screen looks fantastic and offers some features that could be useful. If you use audible or like to read near water (poolside or in a bath) then this would be the e-reader to go with. If not, then I would just stick with the Voyage (if you're a hardcore reader) or a Paperwhite for casual readers.
