Works just fine. I use it to transfer photos from my dslr to my MacBook with a USB.

The device itself will work fine for projection, power and USB functionality. However, on 4 different 2016 MacBook Pros I have seen the behavior where if this is plugged in on booting up, both the HDMI display and the laptop's screen are black. This is even with all macOS updates and the additional software that installed when using the adapter for the first time. The workaround is to plug the adapter in after the laptop has booted and you are seeing your desktop. Hopefully this is a software/firmware issue and Apple will address this in a future update.

Needed this adaptor to run an event. No one else around had it in stock. Best Buy had it and it works great and just as needed.

New MacBook Pro=So. Many. Adapters. With the new USB-C ports you need an adapter to everything unless you buy all new peripherals. Both approaches are expensive, but Apple has priced these thing just below the pain threshold of buying those new devices. Both avenues will cost you a chunk of change, but adapters will set you back less. A little. But don't forget to buy a little bag for the umpteen dongles you'll need to carry with you!

This adapter has worked mostly perfectly. Occasionally, there is some weird distortion on my external monitor and I have to unplug the adapter and put it back in again for it to resolve. It doesn't happen often enough to be a huge pain, though. Over all though I'm super happy I bought this so that I can use a 27" screen with my Macbook at work.
