Awesome Video Doorbell.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed the new Arlo Video Doorbell. This doorbell is amazing. On the first night the Video doorbell caught what looks like a pregnant Racoon. The 2k video quality, wide coverage and the 1.1 aspect ratio are far more superior to any product out there now. The Arlo app is awesome. The smart alerts for packages, animals, person, vehicles... This was an addition to my 10 Arlo ultra cameras. This doesn't need a base. This has a lot more features than I'm describing and installation was very easy. I'm super happy. The photos are screenshots from my phone.

Arlo doorbell
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to install. Video and audio work very well. Very sentitive to movement as it even shows whenever a car passes by. Should be a matter of calibration although sensitivity is already set at 15%.

Solid Competitor
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After decided to stick with the Arlo ecosystem/subscription, I replaced my Nest Hello with the Arlo Video Doorbell. Image quality and features are on par with the Nest unit. The ability to configure video, audio, and notifications is excellent. I especially like the ability to control the speaker volume. The canned outgoing messages have the potential the be useful but sound extremely artificial. Installation was easy and similar the Nest, which make the swap a 10 min effort.

Large Viewable Area, Integration with Arlo System
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Arlo may be late to the video doorbell party, but the wait was worth it. Considered getting a Ring before the Arlo video doorbell was announced, but wanted a doorbell that would integrate with the rest of our system. Installation was relatively straightforward, and setup was simple. Just follow the step-by-step instructions in the app. While there is some “funhouse mirror” distortion, the tradeoff is a large, square viewing area, a larger area than most competitors. Only major downside is a mandatory paid subscription to save clips over 30 days. Fortunately, it’s offered on an a-la-carte basis, for only $2.99/month per device. If you already have an Arlo camera system, the video doorbell is a worthwhile add-on.

Absolutely stunned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m stunned at the quality of the night vision and the sensitivity of the sound. This is probably the best bang for your buck wired doorbell there is. Installation took me less than 15 minutes with my existing chime. Works great on my Alexa enabled smart TVs when I ask to show the doorbell.

Easy setup video doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never bought into the video doorbell business before, since from my point of view you are either at home and use your peek window to determine who is outside or if you are away (or didn’t want to answer) and it is someone you know, they’d call you up. However, after some consideration, and having my wife asking for one such device, it seemed prudent to get into the video doorbell wagon. In the last few days of having the Arlo Wired Video Doorbell, I am glad we have it, it was an easy installation and setup, the video quality has been impressive as well as the night vision capabilities, among other things. In these COVID times, it looks like the perfect device to interact with people at your door while respecting social distancing as well as providing a sense of security knowing that video would be recorded and saved in the cloud for latter review if needed. - Pros: easy installation/setup, wonderful video, configurable motion detection, connects to your already existing mechanical chime, multiple-phone-user access, 3 month-trial cloud storage, and others. - Cons: none so far. >> Installation/Setup First thing I noticed was that there was no manual or fast guide for installation/setup, after complaining about it for some time about this, I came to realize that the approach taken by Arlo was to have your cell phone as not only the installation guide but your installation buddy, which at the end worked excellent for me. Second thing I noticed was the note on the box about the voltage that the Arlo Wired Video Doorbell needed: 16V-24V. I measured the voltage, in my case directly at the doorbell connection (not sure where the transformer is): a little over 16V. Just make sure you have the right voltage on your existing doorbell connection. Now, to start the installation, the first thing I did was to get the Arlo app on my cell phone and follow the instructions to create my account and next follow the Arlo App on a step-by-step installation (the instructions are easy to follow). Here are some highlights on my experience: - I placed the Arlo video doorbell at the same height the older one was: a little higher to waist level. I was tempted to put it a little more towards face level, but this device will basically capture video from the floor all the way up to the roof, as it has a wide spectrum angle. If you want you can just hook up the wires and find the right height where to place the device, I think you’d realize, given its wide video angle range, that where the old doorbell was is just the right place. - Given that my doorbell connection is on the side wall, I used the angle mounting plate it came with, to direct the video doorbell away from the front of house. I realized that this is not really needed given the 180 degree range this camera has. - The 3-month trial for cloud storage starts after the setup is complete. I am not sure yet about the subscription, though, after the 3-month trial I’ll decide whether to keep it or not (so far it looks like we are going to keep it). >> Audio/Video Audio In and Out is clear enough for people outside and inside to hear each other, volume can be configured from the App. Video is noticeable of very good quality (you can change the quality). Night mode is very good, I have other indoor security camera and the Arlo Video doorbell captures a way better image in lower or no light. >> App/Software The web version seems to have more features than the App version; for example, sharing access is not available on the App (as far as I can tell). I also, had to use the web version to enable the mechanical chime. Initially I set the chime to none, as I was having issues testing the mechanical configuration, when I decided to fix that after finding the Arlo was working fine, the message I got on the phone screen was "not connected" and there was no way to get the option to select a new chime configuration, so I had to go to the website my.argo.com and from there enable that setting and set it to mechanical chime. >> Sharing access to the device This is the one I found great. Having installed the device and tried it on my phone, of course my wife asked me when she was getting notifications on her phone. The App did not have the option to share the device, so I had to go to the website and from there send the invitation to my wife. She created her Arlo account, downloaded the App and configured it to have access to our new Arlo Wired Video Doorbell! Note: I haven’t tested all the features, such as Activity Zones and the like.

Improvement over the audio doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have slowly been growing my Arlo ecosystem over the last couple of years. I have an Ultra Camera, Pro 2 cameras, security lights, doorbell, and door chime. My latest addition is the Video Doorbell. My previous set up was using the Ultra camera linked to the door chime (audio only) and that worked ok, but I wasn’t very happy with the audio quality of the doorbell, it was difficult for the person at the door to hear me and I would see them crouch down to listen. The microphone was great, but the speaker lacked big time. This new Video Doorbell has solved that issue for sure. I am very happy with the volume of the speaker on this video doorbell and the microphone is equally as good. Video quality can be adjusted to three modes, there is 1535x1536, 1080x1080, and 720x720. You can set up activity zones in the Arlo app, but I believe you do have to pay extra for that feature beyond the included 3-month trial. Installation of the video doorbell was made easy with the Arlo step by step instructions. Although the photos did not match exactly what my wiring looked like, it was close. For example, the door chime that I have only had a green and red wire, but the Arlo instructions had a three-wire setup that was closest to mine. However, the doorbell wiring only displayed 2 wires, but my house has three, green, red and white. I did not use the white wire and it works fine. I only had to use a drill, level and screwdriver to install this and it took me about 20 minutes total. As I mentioned before, the step by step instructions are laid out very well and show you how to do everything from start to finish. Video quality is pretty good. I am sure there are better and more expensive video doorbells out there, but this one does just fine for my needs. I did notice a little bit of pixilation and strange grayed out imaging going on, so I might have to play around with the settings a bit more. I do recall that my regular Pro 2 cameras did this at some point, but I think a firmware update addressed the issue, so I am not too worried about that. There is a slight delay that I have noticed as well. At times it is about 3 seconds, and others it is about 7 seconds. Hopefully, this also can be addressed in firmware updates. One thing I really like is the 1:1 ratio of the camera. I can see the entire person from head to toe while they are at my door. With the included trial of the Arlo Smart plan, you get smart detection of Animals, Vehicles, People or packages along with, as I mentioned earlier, the ability to set Zones for motion detection. I found the detection to be rather good with only a few false alerts for the wrong thing…mostly involving packages. Overall, I am pleased with the audio improvements that Arlo has made, and this will allow me to move my Ultra camera to a different location to improve the coverage of my system even more. Pros: Cost 1:1 video to see more Audio quality Installation Cons: Video pixilation extra cost for advanced features slight lag

Excellent video doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A video doorbell gives you simple piece of mind and Arlo proves to be one of the best. This Arlo replaces another video doorbell I had and though I was happy with it, the Arlo has a lot more features. It has four different motion detection settings, people, vehicles, animals and all motion. This is nice so you don’t get bombarded with false notifications when it’s windy and you have tress/bushes out front. You can also allow people to leave you a 20 second message when they ring the bell and you don’t answer. Arlo also allows you to set up different modes in the app, such as home or away mode, e911, call a friend, package detection or have a set schedule for when it’s armed or disarmed. The video quality is excellent and the motion detection is much better than the unit it replaced. I left motion detection at the factory setting and the camera detected me @ probably 25 to 30 feet away. Arlo includes a wedge so you can point the door bell left or right if needed when installing it. Installation is a simple and straight forward process thru the Arlo app. For security or just piece of mind, a video doorbell is a cheap investment. This is my first Arlo product and it’s easy to see why they’re a leader in DIY home security.

Easy set up, easy to use too!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This video doorbell was easy to install. The packaging was simple to unbox and everything was clearly labeled too. While I would prefer a paper hardcopy of instructions, the app walked me through the installation process easily. I did really enjoy the visuals within the app as well as it made the instructions simple to understand. Once installed, the app walked me through how to use the doorbell and viewer when someone was at the door. I did notice a bit of lag in the app, and determined it was not due to my internet connection. There was a 3-4 second delay which made it difficult to communicate with the person/people outside, but from what I've heard this happens with most video doorbells. The video quality was great and, after some adjusting, I found an appropriate angle to view my front steps and walkway. All in all, the set up is pretty straight forward and the functionality was very straight forward. If you are looking for a video doorbell i would recommend this as a great solution to check that box!

Upgrade for a home we thought was already "Smart"
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have quite a few cameras in what I refer to as our Command Center. Nest, Ring, Lorex, Unifi, Amazons CloudCam, and now Arlo. Extensive exterior video coverage, however none of them were ALSO an actual upgrade to a dilapidated existing device - that being an old crusty doorbell on our exterior front porch. Arlo makes installation a breeze & includes some additional connectors; because they know contractors don't always leave extra wire "slack" during a build. When removing the old existing doorbell, the wires were so short (pictured) - THANK goodness there were some wire-extenders! After connecting, mounting - getting up and running was easy. However, note that you must remove the mounted unit using the included “pin” should you want to change Wi-Fi networks, you cannot do so from the app. So make sure you connect to the best available SSID you manage. The device includes a 3 month trial, then will require a subscription for services. The camera does an excellent job distinguishing and identifying vehicles, animals, and people. Very smart. Upon someone approaching and detected, the circle light does its “Knight Rider” thing which is neat, then once you press the button - the device will call the mobile via video for you to see who is at the door. Makes a great gift for those parents that are hard to buy for. Get this, install it for them, and watch them be amazed!

Easy to install, even a caveman can do it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a first time home buyer, I was extremely excited to make my home smart. I already had the original Arlo camera set, so I decided on sticking with Arlo as it's not owned by Amazon and they won't be listening to me to market to me. I got home, and first thing I thought was this is going to take a while. From start to finish, it took me 25 minutes and I am by no stretch of the imagination good with tools. The speaker is actually pretty loud. The feature to leave a "voicemail" is pretty funny, specially when the church people come door to door. The night vision works surprisingly well. The camera catches every car that crosses my street.

Very Good Video Doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been wanting a new video doorbell for our new home for awhile now. I really missed having one after we moved out of our last house and had to leave the one I had behind. I already had an older Arlo wireless security camera setup with two cameras and a base station. Installation was easy and nearly identical to the Nest doorbell I used to have. The doorbell synced right to the base station I already had and in no time I was up and running. Video quality is great and nearly the entire landing at my front door is covered. I attached a snapshot to my review of a visitor I had today. It’s a high-quality image and easy to see facial features. Nighttime images are equally as clear. I think it is on par with my old Nest but what sets it apart for me is the video storage options. Videos are either stored online for 7 days or you can hook up additional storage in the form of a hard drive or USB drive to the base station to extend that time. To me it beats the Nest subscription service by a mile! Overall, I can’t recommend this doorbell enough. If you are in the market for a video doorbell you will not regret this purchase.

Love it! Easy to Install !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The doorbell was easy to install; the guided app workflow was super helpful! It took me less than 30 mins to replace the doorbell (PS: most of that 30 mins was in removing the old bell..lol), so installation was super fast! The video quality is great. I opted for a wired Arlo doorbell; it's connected to the existing chime, so the sound quality is super! No complaints thus far! I'm officially ARLO-FIED

||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After doing some DB cam research, I decided to go with Arlo. Easily installed & set up but it would've been nice if there was a lil more room in the back to store the wires. Used the angle mount it came with since my old DB spot is a lil too narrow. Even on a lil angle, the view is very wide. I like having the e911, call a friend & siren options if ever needed. Clear video & good night vision. I bought it on sale, then was able to do a price adjust (paid under $100) so I definitely got a great deal. I don't understand the difference between activity zones (are set up) & motion detection. Guess I could test it by turning off motion detection. Bought a router. It was easy to change the wifi network just wish the reset button was somewhere else. How often am I gonna reset it anyway. I've actually only been using it just over a month but so far so good. Any minor issues I thought I had were because of me, not Arlo. Lol

Upgraded to Arlo Video doorbell- no batteries requ
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the "wired" version because I don't like replacing batteries if I don't have to. You must have 16 volts ac present at the lead wires at the doorbell push switch for this puppy to work. I knew going in that I would need to go up in the attic and replace the transformer because it was only putting out 11 VAC. I was able to use the existing wiring with the original door chime in the house. The increased voltage made the chime much louder which was also rated at 16VAC. I already had an Arlo video camera and Arlo router that my son gave me for Christmas. I followed the installation instructions in the ARLO app for adding a device and was up and running in about 20 minutes once I had the power connected. I installed the video doorbell with the beveled mounting plate but I wish the camera would swivel for fine adjustments. Very clear video day or night. Porch light or no porch light. It even alerted me while I was at work that an animal was detected was at the door. Sure enough my cat was waiting at the door to get in. The doorbell calls your phone when pressed and you can talk to the person from anywhere. They don't know if you're home or not. I like that feature. The sound is better than the non video arlo doorbell and I'm glad I did the upgrade during the Best Buy sale.

Good Picture Quality
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do like the sleek look of the Arlo over the clunky looking Ring. I had the Ring for 4 years and it gave out so we’re trying Arlo since we already have the Arlo cameras. I think the picture is just as good as the Ring. It was easy to set up in our existing Arlo app. The only thing I don’t like is that you get a phone call when someone rings your doorbell. I find this very disruptive. I just want a notification on my phone not a phone call. If you disable it, it also disables the doorbell chime in your house. I would think they could fix that with a software update. Besides that, I would give it five stars. To me it’s a deal breaker and I may return it for the Ring Pro like I previously had.
