    Too many alerts.

The camera alerts every movement even though I've designated a certain area to be monitored. I receive about 50 false alerts a day. For instance if I selected just my yard to be monitored but someone drives by on the road I get an alert. I'm not really satisfied with this camera.

Bought this when the infrared lights went out on our Infant Optics monitor. Needed to be able to see baby when the room was dark. Thought this was the best option based on price and technology and we became increasingly disappointed. The app that goes along with this camera is literally terrible and got worse over the 6 months we could tolerate it. It required a fingerprint authorization to sign in, then would take 30-60 seconds or more to deliver a video feed that had a 4-5 second lag. This is an eternity when you're checking on a crying baby (or making sure no one is breaking into your house, I'd imagine). It was miserable, and annoying. It had difficulty connecting to our WiFi despite being 15 feet (and one wall) away from the router. I couldn't set motion/activity zones in the app because it'd inexplicably zoom in on a random part of the room I didn't need monitored. Worse still, I found internet forums filled with similar comments from other owners, and no acknowledgement from Arlo indicating that they were in any way working to fix the issue. Honestly, I feel a little bit conned by the company, because this product doesn't work as advertised. I sold it online and bought a Nest cam and will never look back. Giving it two stars because the camera works... once you wait three minutes for the app to boot up and connect.

    Blurry Video during movement

After having a Samsung SNH-P6410BN SmartCam HD Pro 1080p WiFi IP Camera, that they are not supporting very well if at all anymore and certainly not on Alexa unless it's one of their new models, I decided to shop for a replacement. First I started with a dlink DCS indoor 1080P who's picture was not good at all. So I decided to try out the Arlo Q. I knew it was an indoor camera. I did not go for the Arlo Pro2 because I didn't want a complete wireless system, didn't want a hub unit considering I just bought thier Orbi system competing with each other and wanted something smaller. The video quality was far superior compared to the dlink and maybe a bit better than my Samsung for not much movement. I was not a fan of things going from color to a black in white when it gets dark even without Night Vision. Bottom line, I noticed that with motion there is very inconsistant video quality and very blurry and even pixilated as shown below. For me, this kind of defeated it being a video security camera. I don't know what the issue is, but it needs to be fixed. The Arlo storage is really the best thing about the Camera. You can put in zones and get 7 days of storage for free! That is awesome! But you can only have one app open at a time. When you have the app open on a phone and then open it up from another source, it closes the app from the source it was opened up on first telling me that it was opened from another source. What if you or your significant other were reviewing the same alert from different places? What an inconvenience. It has a lot of potential, but n eeds a lot of work. Below is an example screenshot.

The camera set up was very easy it has a large field of view and the App is easy to use. I have an 8lb couch retriever who sleeps all day yet somehow he sets the motion and audio off every time he goes to eat or look out the front window. I have the settings at 1 for motion and audio (again that was easy to set up). I get 10 to 20 motion detections per day and 1 or 2 audio if he barks at someone passing by. So I have contacted Netgear Support and thier "Expert" help desk leaves much to be desired. The 1st suggestion was to remove the batteries (obviously that "expert" doesnt know there are NO batteries. A few days later a new "expert" suggested I set the camera detection settings to 0 (zero). It only goes down to level 1. A few days ago the last "expert" suggested I disarm the camera. Disarming it is the same as returning it but unfortunately for me I am outside the return window. So in the end it's disarmed and I can watch my dog sleep but the motion and audio detection is disarmed. Its a very expensive Pet Camera and I have given up on any support or help from the "experts" at Net Gear.

This camera has a pretty decent picture and audio quality. It was easy to set up. The problem I have with it thought is that when viewing the live view on your device it is about 10 seconds behind. I can walk past the camera and sit down and open the app to the live view and watch myself walking out of this room. This is not ideal if you want to see what is really happening live. I have some wireless Arlo pro cameras and they don’t have nearly as long of a delay as the Arlo q. The 7 day cloud storage is nice though. I only recommend buying this if it is on sale for a decent price and you don’t mind the 10 second live view delay. I don’t think it is worth the full asking price.

The camera's resolution is terrific, two-way audio is surprisingly good, the app is sometimes slow to open, the free cloud storage is quite adequate, night vision is good - but the motion-sensing is extremely problematic. Mine worked for a while then it stopped, and then began working sporadically even though NO settings had been changed. No idea whether it's the camera, the app, the base station or what, but strange that it worked fine and then became unreliable in the same circumstances.

I bought this for indoor security and as a baby monitor. The Good: The 1080p HD video was very clear and the camera has a nice wide-angle view which can be zoomed and still shows a clear picture. The night vision works very well and is still clear under very low lighting. It even comes with a free service to store recorded data up to seven days, which you can download if you need to, which can also be upgraded for a fee. You can monitor from any smartphone, tablet, computer that has an internet connection. The Bad: while monitoring from ANY device, there is a minimum of a 5 second delay (lag) between when something happens and when you see it on the monitoring device. This delay grows while monitoring. The video being monitored seems to sometimes go in slow motion, and never catches up to “real-time”. The delay got as bad as several minutes. During one test I had it pointing at the driveway and after my wife had parked the car in the garage, came into the house and sat on the couch next to me, we watched her pulling into the driveway – it was about 2.5 minutes after it actually happened. Note: I have very high speed internet and a ridiculous router. There is no internet speed problems here. This kind of delay problem was very consistent and was a deal breaker. If something is happening in my house that demands my attention, it demands it right now, not minutes after if actually happened! I wound up returning this item and going with a different brand – my second of this other brand with consistently less than 1 second lag.

When it was online it was great. However it kept going off and loosing it connection. Tried to troubleshoot it and one would work and other wouldn’t. We switched them and it was same as before. Both up at same time worked but it never stayed for long. Loved the concept of no monthly fees and image was good. But what good are they if they don’t stay connected.

The set up first off is super quick and easy! Which is really loved! I was really concerned with not being able to set it up correctly. The app is easy, yo have the option to see live view, turn off the light that shows on the camera that it is on, record footage, and set motion alerts. everything is 100% perfect until u leave the destination, On numerous occasions i would get a notification that there was sound or motion detected.. when i would pull the app up to see the footage it would say it can't retrieve a connection. It randomly would and would not work which is really frustrating when you are alerted something is going on. After about the 10th time of this happening and me rebooting and rushing to the destination to check everything out i decided to return this product... they need to get the app fixed because that defeats the purpose of even having the camera if it is going to selectively work. Looking for a different camera as of now.

The camera is fine, once you finally get it to connect. I have two different Arlo cameras and have had the same issue with both. We’re a Mac household using iPhones and the Arlo app, and connecting the cameras is a pain. You turn them on, scan a QR code and basically hope the app finds the phone, which 99% of the time it won’t. When it finally does, just hope you don’t have a Wi-Fi change in the house (like we did) and have to go through the process again. Once you do get it connected, I have no issues with the image / sound / recordings, but the setup process is a pain. Don’t purchase unless you have unlimited amounts of patience and free time.

When we first used this camera, it worked very well. Surprisingly well. The camera body stayed warm and that concerned me a little, but since then, after repeated attempts to get it running again it will not connect. Great potential that I saw, but have been unable to replicate.

I should have bought the wireless camera instead. Actually I should have bought the Blink system from Amazon. It is a better system for cheaper and more features.

We have an Arlo that we use to monitor our dogs when we are home alone, and it is a great for that purpose. We can both see and listen to them. We wanted to add the same capability at a second home, and found that the application does not allow you to add devices on separate WIFI networks without setting up a different account. We called ARLO technical support, and there is currently no way to be able to do this. We would need one set of login credentials for one phone, and a different set of login credentials for a different phone. Since we wanted to see both homes from each of our phones, we ended up returning our second Arlo and we got a Nest camera for our second home.

I bought this to replace my Canary due to their unethical practice of adding a pay wall for services that used to be free. As much as it pains me to say this. Canary was a better camera. This camera has 1080p resolution, but it doesn't look any better than the Canary's 720p. The live feed and video playback is also really choppy. I've tried dropping it to 720p and changing the flicker adjustment from 60 hz to 50 hz, but it doesn't make a difference. The camera also tends to get really hot. For the $200 price tag. I would look elsewhere.

My purchase started out promising. Reviews, installation and initial camera performance were excellent. It was only after I left home for a month and stopped receiving notices after three days that the product failed to do what I purchased it for...watch my house while I was away! Seems that there was a firmwear update. Something happened with the update that knocked my camera offline. There was nothing that I, nor Arlo support, could help me with remotely except for rebooting the camera in person. Not possible with being over a 1,000 miles away. Defeated the whole purpose of making this purchase in the first place.

The camera is great - video quality is good. The setup is horrific! The only help available is that of a chat line with other buyers who in fact are having the same issue with setup. For the money it is amazing that it didn't have an easier user setup. I used it for my 90 year old dad to alert us when he would get up in the middle of the night as he was very feeble and I wanted to make sure the caregivers would be able to help. Bad experience. I took it back to BB and got my money back. A baby monitored worked better.

I have had this device for some time now. I added it to a pre-existing Arlo wireless setup but I immediately got confused by the new system. What was formerly simple became hard to figure out (as to setting up and changing settings). The Q device continues to have connection problems. My main router possibly is a problem, or a limiting factor, but it was not a cheap one. While the wireless Arlo cam has its own router the Q somehow goes direct. I'd think it would be more reliable not less. Does not connect at this time.

I have several various camera located on my property.....ex. Ring, Nest. Thought I'd give Arlo a try..... I returned the camera today. I found the app to be cumbersome, account set-up was difficult as I received an error message that my email was already in use, as an example. Camera capabilities were limited to the other types I currently use. The Arlo Q is not a "bad" camera, there are just other, better options available.
